Wasn't the official line that the teal was supposed to represent water or Port River or some shit? Meanwhile, everyone's thinking, yeah, nah, it's coz teal was the "it" colour of sports teams at the time.

Love to see some of our other concepts/designs. The Crows stumbled across some of theirs at the bottom of a cupboard or something a few years back.

Jabberjaw would've been an awesome game day mascot...

This looks like a rough mockup for market testing. Are the Crows claiming this was part of their original designs?

AFAIK, this was done BEFORE Port made their bid. It's probably also a strong indicator of WHY the board at the time made the decision to jump from the SNAFL ship.

Looks suspiciously like a 'let's pretend to go through multiple ideas before hijacking the state colors for our after-birth franchise' rather than anything genuine. In fact, you can actually tell that's exactly what it was, because it says so on the sign. "The Inaugural Board at it's first meeting...agreed that the basic colours of the uniform would consist of: Green, White and Blue." Then it says "Concerned that these were not strong enough colours for a football uniform, the Inaugural Board unanimously agreed to change the colours."

Why bother agreeing to green, blue and white in the first place? To manufacture some history?
 
It's not that far out Janus. There's plenty of pre-entry Freo jumper concepts floating around in old footage. Adelaide would have explored different directions before landing on their state colour design. Pre-entry brand concepts are hardly 'history' anyway.

Some of those Freo protos look alright.

I'd be really keen to see some of our pre-entry mock ups. Surely someone at the club has a bottom draw full of Port Pirates concepts! :p
 
"Adelaide Hills Green" is a funny one... since most the of the state is a f@%king dustbowl! Red would always seem more appropriate.

"Adelaide Lakers" is another one I remember being vaguely tossed around at the time (coz of West Lakes.) Dunno if that was just media mischief or not?

As a longtime Laker fan, thank f@%k they moved on pretty quickly...

He's put one on ebay as he has a second one!

What a legend, he's gonna get the top to me in perth so I can wear it to the game tomorrow morning im picking it up at the hotel! Too sweeeet!

AC Milan had the pictured insignia underneath their crest for a couple of seasons... [unfortunately for them, they lost the right to wear it :p ]. It roughly translates to: 'The club with the most titles in the world'. This was because they had the most international titles at the time.

AUSTRALIA'S MOST SUCCESSFUL FOOTBALL CLUB needs to appear on some our official merchandise! Preferably underneath the logo on an official guernsey!!!
 
seems like they're having a 20% off storewide sale for the bye round, 5 days only (Wed - Sun?). i'm gonna get me a monogram sweater, hopefully they're back in stock.
