Just thought we might need it. Only positive things about the Lions. And no negatives dressed up as positives eg "well the positive is we can't play any worse." Genuinely positive stuff only.

    To start:
Mayes is going to be a gun, really top quality in a season or so.

    Love it.

Mayes, Doc and Papa 3 of the best debuts you could hope for from an individual POV all in the last 2 weeks. :thumbsu:

    Brisbane Heat,
Paparone - three goals in your first game is nothing to sneeze at.

Golby - although he made a fair few mistakes he really seemed to be in it and have that endeavor that the rest of the boys need.

Hanley and McKeever - a few times they seemed to be in the right place at the right time

    and of course

Patfull - that spoil on Daw. I was surrounded by North fans and that spoil broke their wittle hearts and gave me a giggle.

    Great initiative :thumbsu:

    • Mayes, Paparone and Docherty are going to be real players. Their poise and decision making under pressure was above that for a player in his first year, and even put some of the senior players to shame.
    • Leuenberger starting to get back into form.
    • Rockliff getting a lazy 34 possessions.
Sadly, that's all I can think of for today's game.

Keep them coming. We need the vent thread after days like this but the club is not built or destroyed on a single performance or even a single season.

How about the return of Simon Black and Brent Staker in the reserves!

    Merrett's passion!

The awesome debut of Big Papa and the great game for Doc in his 1st.

Mayes backing up his great debut with some of the best kicking I have seen from a Lions player in a lonnggggg time.

Zorko and Bewick back to 2012 form!

Rockliff continues his good 2013 form with 34 touches:thumbsu::hearts:

Golby trying hard and aiming to get some run and carry going.

Harwood solid in his return. Looking forward to seeing him build on this game!

Big Leuy playing a good game.

Black and Staker getting through the reserves game unscathed and playing well. These two plus Goose to return to the seniors in the next month and improve the side.

    Hanley is a fantastic player.

    GOOOOO LIIIOOOOONNNNNNSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seconded. I was quite sure of it before the season, but Rockliff has to be the next captain of the club. Leads by example, gives everything he has, and stands up when it counts most.

Zorko, Rocky, Paparone, Doc and Mayes all good.

Paparone will be a star. His natural goal sense and non stop running will be very very hard to match up on in the many years to come.

Mayes, great second game, poised and precise, you would think he has played at least 50 games
Paparone, has the tank to be a true CHF and the guts to fly into the coal face. 3 goals, wow!!
Docherty, like Paparone, put his body into it, got bumped off a bit but thought he played very well, in a hard spot on the day!
Rockliff, never stopped trying, has footy smarts in bucket loads.
Merrett, has passion for the team and let's it out on the field, can't' fault his endeavour.
Bewick, wasn't afraid to contest the ball, threw his body in, took the game on.
Zorko, tried and tried and tried
Harwood's attack on the ball out of defence
Redden worked his way back into the game after starting quiet
    Leuenberger having another solid performance
Hanley, taking on the game even though he looked to be carrying something
Golby, trying his heart out under a ton of pressure

Also great to see Black and Staker get through their reserves matches and a few others put their hands up for selection this week.

With our injuries there will be plenty of opportunities for others to stake their claim for a spot and make it their own. I feel sure that someone will pleasantly surprise us in the coming weeks.

If we have Clarke make his debut, that will be four debutantes this season so far. There is a good chance that all four will be more than useful in the years ahead. And we might get a couple of real stars from the four.

Mayes, Doc and Paps all had fabulous debuts.

And lastly and most importantly, Simon is back!!

We're not the only ones getting hit with injuries. Big names getting shot down. Not a positive per se, but at least some peace of mind

Black and Hanley returning next week.:)

Polks' form today. The kid can play, now just needs to find consistency.
