I know it's a tiny sample size but I was up in Brisbane today and ducked into the open training session they had on, the boys still seem a really tight unit, seems like a bunch of mates. I can sort of get that vibe that has made someone like Mayes change his mind on where he wants to play. As bad as the on field stuff is at the moment, it doesn't seem to be breaking the group apart, which is really good.
Said it in the Ben Keays thread, but he's a fantastic bloke, warm, seemed genuinely interested in the fans. He spent a good 5 minutes speaking to one older lady, really articulate. A fair amount of footy players don't carry themselves amazingly but he's different. Early days but he honestly comes across as someone you could slap the captaincy on and be super happy with, his love for the club and his respect for the fans is palpable. Definitely have a good one in him.
Club must be stoked with how he carries himself, things like that are the intangibles that help you build successful footy clubs. Watching the young kids train today it's hard not to push your mind to the future, seems so bright if we can keep them together.
