Apparently Fagan thanked Schache for his role in last nights win. Fagan told Josh that his re-signing put a smile on so many of the staff and players faces that it lifted the entire club's spirit, which in turn was reflected in our game against Freo.

The whole week was a positive for me.
Schache signing started it off and lifted the boys to the performance of the year last night.
At times they controlled the game in a way that we have not seen from a Lions team for a very long time.
A very 'Professional' performance I would say.
I wont get carried away with the win, but i will say that it is the beginning of some extremely positive signs of the type of performance we should expect in the years to come. When we get some more experience and consistency into our game.

The rise and rise of Jarrod Berry.

Butchered a goal early in the fourth quarter but then busted his gut to take a mark inside 50 a few minutes later

And calmly slots the long goal to effectively seal the game.

Then sets up another one for his mate Clugga a few minutes later

Mark of a champion....make a mistake and then make up for it twice over

God I love that guy.

Seven things we learned from round 12
6. The Lions have their own Awesome Foursome in the middle
Ross Lyon said his Fremantle midfield was obliterated on Saturday night – and he wasn't wrong. The Lions wrought havoc through the middle of the ground, thanks largely to four men - Dayne Beams, Dayne Zorko, Tom Rockliff and ruckman Stefan Martin. Rockliff is a ball-hunter averaging more clearances than anyone in the competition, Beams has class inside and out, while Zorko again showed how dynamic he could be as a goalkicking midfielder. Throw in Martin, who competes well around the ground and gave his onballers first use against the Dockers, and the Lions boast a starting centre square combination that has the potential to be among the top handful in the competition if it can stay injury free.

problem is it drops away quickly after those 4. Was interesting to see us use the young guys more in the midfield rotations. never saw Rich lining up for a center bounce but Barrett, Berry and Matho did pretty often.

It seemed like there was a particular plan with our midfield rotations and especially centre restarts. The A team of Beams, Rocky, Zorko and Martin or the B team of of the younger developing midfielders - Archie, Matho, Berry, Barrett etc. Good to see that there is an effort to make sure the younger midfield gets its opportunity to test themselves.

Just on Barrett, watching the game again, he really has started to show something. Great pressure and attack on the ball, starting to look more composed at this level. I thought he showed reasonable speed and plenty of footy smarts. It is going to be interesting to see him develop over the next couple of seasons. It would be great to think that he goes past some of those GWS young guns who were keeping him out of their team. We could really have a player on our hands.

Would be hilarious after all the GWS kids Carlton got and traded for, we got one of the better ones from the rookie draft where we didn't have to pay anything.

For me, Barrett has done nothing wrong so far this year. Love his work ethic and the way he tackles like a man possessed. Great recruit and one that will have a significant role in our rise up the ladder in the next 2-3 years.

Note: I have no specific inside information... I just really hope it's Clugga.

Andrews will be a one club player, easily.
So could 90% of them if they are looked after properly and their footy continues to improve. Why would anyone leave a club if they are paid what they are worth/play finals/maybe win a flag or 2 & be surrounded by good administration & supporters??? It's a no brainer

TBH, I think the "flag or 2" bit may be the hard part

If you ask ANY of those young guys what they want to achieve in their footy career, all of them would say "to win a flag.". If they don't think Brisbane is the place to give them that opportunity, they would definately move to another club who could provide a chance. As Noble says..."We need to be relevant again." and we are on the right path to doing that...be it a long long path.
