You wouldn't remember who was in it :tongueout:

But there are things we do know - Like you envy us oldies. Perfectly obvious from your name -
Definition of eons
: an immeasurably or indefinitely long period of time.

We've lived it son; be patient and you will too.

Fagan has to be be right in line for coach of the year. People talk about how composure is innate and game sense etc is so hard to teach, but somehow, they're doing it. The improvement of Mayes, Robbo, Lewy and McStay among others is so much to do with their mental approach, than anything physical or tactical.

Which local lawn bowls are you blokes going to terrorize.

We need to see your over 50s ID card before we let you in on that secret. Don't want to get swamped by groupies.

Agree he seems to be having a positive influence although Leppa would be saying they were on the cusp of blooming anyway in their 4th/5th year

Ok , wasn't sure where to put this but ...

It's time to get off richy's back. I read such dribble about him , he has become the favourite punching bag for posters on this forum. But it's all rubbish , listen to Fagan. Look at he best players Rich is there almost every week, it's been his best year for ages , yes he makes the odd blu but no more than others , but he gets the pill , time and time again

Things are so positive for this club this year , even sitting on the bottom the upsides are enormous . Rich has stuck by this club thru thick and thin , so time to back him in I reckon

I thought over 50's dread the sound of clicks;)

Are you kidding me?!? It's the sound of our pacemakers, sleep aponea machines, our walking frames/ sticks, dentures and our bodies in the morning. Love a good clique.

Seconded, lets start an over 50s clique.
I'm in. That way we could could have a clique which was comprised of long time students of the game. We would bring a Yoda like authority to our board. We could accommodate members who had seen club legends like Kevin Murray, John Murphy, Gary Wilson, David McMahon, Warwick Irwin, Bernie Quinlan and other champion players like Bob Skilton, Ron Barassi, Keith Greig, Ted Whitten, Alex Jesaulenko, Kevin Bartlett, John Nicholls, Royce Hart, Robbie Flower, Francis Burke and so many other greats actually play.

As opposed to the yoda like qualities of just mixing their sentences up through senility.

For example, if someone wanted to know, which was the greatest team to not win a flag in the 1980's, they could consult a member of the Over 50's Clique and we would be able to state unequivocally that the answer was Fitzroy in 1983. What do you think Len S? With me on that one?
PS. Some may say Richmond in 1982, but they would be wrong.

Mate, we were so stiff. Smashed our way through the home and away season, got stiffed against Hawthorn in the Qualifying Final and had an ordinary game the next week against Essendon.

My 92 year old grandmother lived through World War 2, however I'm sure I could speak with much more eloquence and detail on the subject.

That said, got to respect that generation who actually left their children a better world than the one they inherited.

Memory's fading. What's that saying about doers and teachers?

Those who do, teach. Those who don't ignorantly criticise them on social media and News.com.au comments sections?

Teachers do the child-rearing that parents are too lazy or inept to do?

Something like that anyway.

It all started in 1979 -

Two highlights for me in 1979 - beating Collingwood by 80 something points at Victoria Park in Round 1 and thrashing Essendon by roughly the same margin in the Elimination Final at VFL Park. At both of those games. At the Essendon game supporters got a long, low, "FITZROY" chant going as we dismembered the Bombers. Similar to the Lions chant of the early 2000's. Spine tingling.

Count me in, over 50 as well (just).
