Rayner and Bailey again had good games without being outstanding. Those two with Berry and Clugg have pushed out duds like Bell, Bewick and Keays and hopefully with their progression and a couple more added we can have a decent midfield in a couple of years.

over the past year or so I’d become a bit of a negative Nancy and started to expect thrashings almost weekly. I’m slowly adjusting my expectations to our new normal of closer losses, and think I’m getting closer to being ready to hope for wins.

Sounds like you're a few weeks/months ahead of me!

It helped that I was crook yesterday and couldn't go to the game. Means I could mute the telecast and without noise I didn't react as emotionally as i would have at the game. Silver linings and all that.

If Andrews and Gardiner aren't #1 and #2 in the Merrett-Murray count right now, then the whole system is biased against defenders and we should institute a new award, the Maxy Kennedy Trophy for services rendered to defensive units. The trophy will be a replica of Mal Michael's fist connecting with the back of some bloke's head.

Watch an Andrews 2016 game v 2018 game. Now project Hugh, Berry, big O, Bailey, witho and rayner two years from now. Happy days!

It's almost like we'll win the flag in 2020. ;)

Dizzy will man Cameron again I'd say. I reckon if we can keep him within 3 that would be a good result.
He played so well on him last time.
He will be given first crack.

Dizzy would be close to our most improved this season. Is becoming a reliable, lockdown defender that is learning to have faith in hisown ability.

In 2016, we had suffered 8 48+ point losses by round 12.

In 2017, we had suffered 5 40+ losses by round 12.

In 2018, we have suffered 2 40+ point losses by round 12.

That is quite staggering.
