So good to see so many new POSTERS on here lately................welcome guys n gals...........the Lions are becoming a forceeeeeeeeeeeeee

I'm absolutely stoked at the number of class players we are able to set up with at the centre square.

Off the top of my head, I think all of the following have had a run there so far this season

Lachie Neale
Jarryd Lyons
Zorks
Berry
Suitcase
Charlie
Linc
MRobbo
Rayner
Beastmode
(Apologies to anyone I've forgotten)

And all of them have have had significant impact at some stage or another.

It's fantastic that all our small forwards have the versatility to impact the centre square if and when needed

Linc has looked particularly damaging in the last few weeks.

Life is good:)

Re Mccarthy in the centre square he ateneded quite a few games and got clearances in the north game at Etihad early in the year. I think including in that final quarter run (with Neale). Remember being very impressed st how footy smart he was in that game always found a way to Have effective possessions both forward and in mid.

Imagine being punched, scratched, poked in the eye, bumped, pushed and abused yet still managing 10 clearances, 24 touches, 7 tackles and 22 pressure acts. Neale is a superstar!

If Port and the Bulldogs lose and we win this weekend we'll be 4 games and percentage clear of 9th with 5 games remaining and finals all bar mathematically locked in.

Port play the Tigers and the Dogs play the Saints with a sacked coach bump.

We remind me of Richmond 2017.

That style wins GF's
It is an interesting comparative exercise. There are some areas where Richmond was more advanced in 2017. For example, I don't think we've got a player who is playing at the level Dusty was that year. Also, while Andrews is elite, he is a different type to Rance who is effectively a gun defender/interceptor and a playmaker in a single package. Richmond probably had more mature depth in the midfield too and Riewoldt is a class or two above our tall forwards. And overall, Richmond's system proved itself in the hottest contests, something we've only had glimpses of with our mob.

But I reckon there are areas which, on paper anyway, we'd have a clear advantage. Our rucks are certainly a stronger combo than Nankervis/Grigg. Richmond's small forward brigade was exceptional but Charlie is probably a better performed player than any of them and we've got that capacity to run an All Australian player in Zorko through there as well (mind you, so did Richmond with Dusty!). Neale is also probably a better pure midfielder than any of the Richmond mids, acknowledging Martin's 2017 is one of the best seasons by an individual ever, playing that hybrid mid/forward role.

I think Richmond, in hindsight, should rightfully be considered the clear superior team. After all, they won the flag and then went on to be the dominant home and away side for the next year. But, even though we've achieved nothing and the Tigers achieved the ultimate prize, there are an awful lot of valid points of comparison with a genuinely great side, a sign of just how far we've come this year.

On the other hand, if Port beat tigers and we win, the tigers will be further behind us in the race to the top four.

Our trading in last two years has been unbelievable and on the back of a ripping draft year three years ago. Great job all concerned.

Imagine if someone had said three years ago on bigfooty that we would be in third place by round 17 in 2019 with the best small forward (Charlie), a Brownlow favourite (Neale) and the General (hodge) all playing for us. That poster would have been laughed off the site!

When you think of the above makes you wonder whether winning the flag this year isn't unrealistic ........

Yep - time to stop hoping for the safety of the 8, and start gunning for top 4..

.. then again, maybe we should really be gunning for top 2. 🤔
Top 2 would be great. But a final at the MCG would be great experience aswell.

The only way we get that would be if we came 3rd and Pies/Tigers came 2nd (or we 4th and Pies/Tigers 1st) wouldn't it? If we are above it is at the Gabba, if we are below and play Geelong it is in Kardinia, West Coast at Optus - only away vs Pies or Tigers would give that yes? In the first round of finals that is...

Its pretty unlikely they will play a final at Kardina unless you had 2-3 finals at the MCG. They have to fill the contract of so many games at the MCG each year

Enjoyed Hodgey promoting Brisbane:

"Look at the weather, I'm not going anywhere," he said.

"I'll be in Brisbane next year without a shadow of a doubt, in what form, we'll sit down and discuss that.

"We're absolutely loving it up here.

"For a winter's day to be 20-odd, we're not going anywhere.

Last round against Richmond would be finals like already

If you're a Melbournite who loves warm weather you'd be pretty happy in Brisbane
