Centre clearances +2 :)
Tackles +10 :thumbsu:
Inside 50's -3 (keep in mind vs Hawthorn)

All points to the boys getting the game plan that Leppa has implemented.
The learn to crawl before we run theory :thumbsu:

Very happy with the overall effort today from the boys. Few silly errors here and there that turned out to be important, but that's to be expected.

Really impressed with his game day approach and his media style. He doesn't sugarcoat things but nor does he run his team down...just gives an honest account of where things are at. And has a good sense of humour.

He said last week that the tackles had to stick, the team obviously worked on them and by and large they did stick today. Great tackling pressure at times.

I think he is asking for very high standards and holding every player accountable for his role. I get the impression he won't allow anyone to be a passenger for too many games. If he demands and gets improvement from every player we will have made great strides by the end of the season.

Sam Mayes and his majestic accuracy in front of goal.

A lot of teams will regret passing on Lewis Taylor. And a couple will regret passing on young Aish as well I would have thought.

Add the bolded three to Rich, Redden, Rockliff; throw in Zorko & Lester and we have 8 really solid midfielders who can then be given a chop out by Green, Hanley, Harwood & Beams etc. - a lot to like about this group moving forward :thumbsu:

Tell you what. Taylor running out a full game after having no pre-season. Pretty happy with our youth, looks better than St kildas, melbournes and bullies, but of course the journalists keep mentioning theirs and not ours.

Let them; all we need in the off-season is a quality KPF, either via trade or the draft and we're good to go! Looking at what the team could look like in 2015 -17, there's not a lot of positional gaps that Leppa has to fill apart from a replacement for the great man o_O

If the majority of Robertson, Paparone, Close, McStay, Cutler, Gardiner, Close, Freeman, Bourke & Paine can make it at AFL level, we will be in for one hell of a ride in the years to come :footy:

Aish and Taylor could be our next Black and Power, Rich and Redden. Next duo of mids that come in and really make an impact in the team. Taylor is still adjusting to the pace a bit, but he has good vision, he knows where to be looking to kick the ball, and he has a neat kick on him. What impressed me the most was his hands in close. There and quick. Early in the game he shot a few hand balls off and they were rather hard forceful, actually caught a couple of the receivers off guard and they nearly fumbled them.

I am quite happy for us to sneak up on them. It won't take much for us to really click.

I reckon we are 75% on the way to being a club that can challenge the top teams. The last twenty five percent is going to take a bit of time. In the meantime we will have our ups and downs but ever more glimpses of what we are capable of. Enjoy the ride because we will have our moments this season and even more next season. By 2016 journalists will have no choice but to notice us.

As disappointing as losses like this one and last week are, I just can't help but feel positive about the way the Lions are playing. It appears now that the only thing holding us back is genuinely just how young our team is...

The last few years I've felt that we've been a little directionless ... and I've been really frustrated by what appeared to be lack of effort and unexplained changes to the sides.

Before any Voss haters attempt to expand on what I'm getting at, I place the blame solely on the club for anything that he may have done in a non-ideal manner as Señor Coach for reasons we've all spoken about.

Win lose or draw, this will be a good year.
