Not for me, I think it is important in our market the general public can relate to the face of our club, he doesn't bring that for me.

Agree....some faces and persona just stand out, and imo Rockliff doesn't have that "something" about him....a leader/great player yes, but captain of/face of the club, no.

Yeo looks great when it takes the game on coming out of the back half. That one where he took on the defender coming out of the back line after a kick-in was brilliant to watch. It's a great way to beat the press setting up too. Would love to see him back himself more.

Love the chasing down of can-give-can't-take-"toughman" White, even if the umpire played a dodgy in the back afterwards.

Mayes, for an 18 year old can do so, so much. The progress with our team is there, our youth are getting games, the RRR's aee lifting. We have a Rhino!

The trade/Draft this year is pivotal for us.

Just curious ,why not?
It is obvious he bleeds for the club.
What something is he lacking beside giving 100% effort in all he does at the Club.
Playing and media. What else does he need to do?

We now have 4Rs.:p

It strikes me that we are only about 30 games and a key forward behind Richmond's development. At the start of the year I would have said it was more like 50 or 60 games behind. So we are catching up to those teams in the bottom to middle of the eight.

Thirty games ago Richmond were inconsistent, missed opportunities, played well in patches, hung in with good teams but faded. They had good players with not quite enough experience and team co-ordination. That takes time. Now they are showing that ability to play at the level required for finals.

I think we are about where they were 30 or so games ago. Every game helps at this stage of development and we actually need to make mistakes, lose games we could have won etc to learn from it and have those things happening less and less. We are building a team of players who are developing together and that is really critical.

A good effort considering the inexperience watch.

He seems like a little boy trying to be a man....compared to so many of our other leaders. Just not manly enough to captain the team imo...must admit have been spoilt with Merritt, Voss, Brown...all massive in "stature and presence" unforgetable.

..I feel the same with Jed.

..and I haven't said he is not a good player, lacks effort or doesn't give 100%...just lacks, what I think is captain material.

agreed, i think Rich seems to have it more

Docherty, Mayes, Yeo, Harwood guns moving forward!

RRR have taken ownership of the team and can hold their own (even when removing Moloney).

We did not lose to a top 8 team by over 70 points as we were in the early part of the season and our big losses last year. We are learning to turn the ship around and get back into games, huge improvement from such a young team!

IMO we could be scary good in years to come, never count us out!

GO LIONS :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

So you just don't like him I gather,thats a shame.But anyway,feelings are feelings.
Cannot change that.
I can't stand Kevin Rudd.but lots of people like him.

Who do you think is better captain material, apart from Rich, because I know
he is a favourite of yours ?

Zorko, Redden, Merrett ..... and how on earth did you get that I don't like him out of what I posted above? You asked why I don't think he is captain material...I gave an answer to your question..

Wasn't aware I was answering whether I like him or not. I do like him, just not for captain. Others will disagree as is their right.

I also can't stand Rudd;)

Fair enough.
Do you like Beattie?

I think the point about Rockliff, Rich and Redden taking ownership of the team is very well made. It has been a slow, and at times, tough transition but now is their time. The superstars of the premiership years are gone or going soon, the transition is almost done and those tough last few years will begin to pay off.

They have seen the next generation of players begin to bloom around them: Hanley, Zorko, Green, Lester, Harwood, Mayes, Clarke, Docherty, Yeo. But the 3 R's will be the ones that help bond all of the elements together.

These last few games in particular, they have shown they are ready, willing and able.

Their time has come.
