Redden quietly continuing to improve across the board as an all rounder in the midfield. It's rare to see a player keep developing once they have hit 100 games, but he isn't just improving his consistency, he is building upon his weaknesses.

All of a sudden we look like a really quick team.

The Midfield / Half-Forward line group is getting there:

Rucks: Leuey, West, Martin
Grunt/Workrate: Redden, Rockliff, Beams, Bewick, Lester, O'Brien (Moloney when fit)
Flair/Pace: Hanley, Zorko, Green, Taylor
Composure: Aish, Mayes
Point of difference: Paparone, Rich

It's a nice mix now, one that has a lot of improvement in it too.

I know it's a simplistic way to group some of the above players as some cross over.

Dayne Zorko - we've had some special players at the Lions over the years, but Zorks offers a pretty unique skill set that I'm not sure we've seen before particulalry his pace, elusiveness and overall transformation in general. Akermanis is a close match and I'm not for a minute suggesting Zorks comes close to Aka, but he is a pretty special little all the same.

Clearly not being in the inner sanctum at the club, I make this observation from very afar, but I do get the impression the players are a fairly tight knit bunch. Such an observation is purely based on the media emanating out of the club and my own general observations from a couple of Lions events and even just hearing them at quarter and three quarter time geeing one another up.

I'd have zorko as a point of difference as well.

I know it sounds silly, but I absolutely love Gardiner getting under the skin of players (and opposition supporters). Nothing like a bit of campaigner in a defender.
