I actually do see that as a positive. Since they've started tracking interchanges we always seem to be behind which puts us at a very slight disadvantage.

The courage of Clarke to play on after two big hits to the lower gut/groin area during marking contests. McGrath's courage 'pound for pound' was as good as we have seen for a while. Well done to both boys...

For me, even when Clarke gets found out by bigger stronger forwards, he never stops trying 100%. You can never doubt he is giving his a all but at this stage he suffers against big experienced players. It won't always be that way.

I am sure this will encourage everyone!

Three positives from Sunday evening ...

1) I missed watching the game

2) When I read through all of the game day thread and the 10 pages of the review thread it actually seemed comparatively balanced (at the risk of following the meme this time last year we would have vented far worse than we did this year!)

3) I won at the ten pin bowling*

* Did you know that if you are coming in for a bowl and as you arm is beginning to swing forward and you are focused on where to place the ball etc and an eight year old suddenly yells/screams something just behind your right ear that is does bad things to the rest of your action?

I feel that pain.

Leppa is looking for leaders....Zorko put his hand up today.

The players need to take more responsibility for how they are playing. Intensity comes from within and I think Zorks is calling everyone out publicly that it's one in all in. I expect this is the start of the lion on the front of this jumper finally waking.

Despite our injuries, we still have a heap of talent in the team. We can turn this around very quickly if the boys can find some form.

Could very well be this generation of Lions "If it bleeds....." moment.

Jack Redden is 574 tackles away from beating the Brisbane Lions record (Simon Black - 1283). He is on track to beat the all time AFL/VFL tackles record if he plays another 126 games. Tom Rockliff is also likely to go past the AFL/VFL tackles record, he needs to play 180 more games at his current pace to beat Lenny Hayes' 1496 tackles.

But c'mon, only rd.3 and we're already without:

Hanley
Freeman
Harwood
Rockliff
Merrett
Close
Gardiner

Arguably, all 7 are in our best 18.

Lets spin this into a positive and say well at least these young guys who are getting picked are getting experience at AFL level.

Harris Andrews first game and first goal at AFL level was a big effort from on the 50. Great to see that despite the scoreline everyone got around him.

Hopefully the first of many. With some development and experience he could be a real player.

Showed some signs. I didn't think he was too bad in terms of physicality. Hits the marking contest hard. He was alright below his knees.

After all our low table and bottom 4 finishes, we might actually get a top 4 draft pick for the first time in 10 years:eek:

With the amount of key injuries, second year players and new recruits , I wonder if this year will turn into a two steps back for four steps forward type year.

Unless we draft someone like a Selwood, Wines, Heeney type that are ready to make an impact I can't see having a high draft pick really helping us out that much in the next 2-3 years.
