Another positive! Collingwood's draw is getting harder. :D

Next week is their toughest test to date.

Any word on our interest in Jack Steele Dlanod? One thing overlooked about the GWS academy is it will push a lot of decent players out, hopefully with the addition of Lambert we will be able to coax a few our way.

At the start of the year our horror draw seemed to extend from Round 1 all the way to Round 14 when the only games that appeared winnable were against the Suns in Round 4, the Pies in Round 8, the Demons in Round 9 and the Blues in Round 11. It seems to me sitting here now that the worst of it is definitely over. I truly believe that from now to Round 14 our last game before our "bye" we can be competitive. Breaking it down:

Round 7 away v Port: Winnable.
Round 8 home v Pies: Winnable.
Round 9 away v Demons: Winnable.
Round 10 home v Hawks: Competitive.
Round 11 away v Carlton: Winnable.
Round 12 home v Dockers: Winnable.
Round 13 home v Eagles: Competitive.
Round 14 away v Tigers: Winnable.

Now I am not suggesting for a second that we will win all those "winnable" games. We are a young, inconsistent side and will drop some games in which we think we probably should have won. However, I think the draw is really starting to open up for us now. Many people predicted that Port and the Pies would be finals contenders this year but come Round 7 and 8 we have arguably been in better form then them. The Demons have shown good form this year but have also been inconsistent and lost games they should have won. Considering we took it right up to the Swans and we are starting to play some quality footy at the Gabba I think we can be more than competitive against the Hawks and maybe even steal a win with Hodge and Roughead most likely out. We should be looking to go for back to back wins against the Blues and Dockers who along with the Bombers should make up this years bottom 3. The Eagles have struggled away from home this year and when you couple that with the fact that we have played very well at home I think we can give the Eagles a scare in Round 13. And then we play the Tigers at the MCG away who are our bogey side but they have been nothing short of terrible this year.

Obviously by the time some of our clashes come around like against the Dockers, Eagles and Tigers 3 weeks in a row they could have all turned their form around and be in red hot form which would be just our luck.

Anyway it definitely looks like our fixture is starting to open up just as we are getting DBeams back and look like fielding our strongest team of the year with players like Paparone, Green and Mathieson all returning from injury as well and Schache with a rest under his belt:thumbsu:

Jack Steele's basically best 22 this year and his family were Canberra foundation members (unlike the alleged coterie, etc, links of some Victorian players in the past, you can actually check on that on the wall at Spotless). I can't see him moving at all. Barrett seems a more likely extraction, more in the mould of Miles and Townsend.

A big positive for me is if you go through our playing list and see how many of our players have yet to play 50 games (usually the point where players start to become more consistent), Mc Stay, Gardiner, Taylor (just on it i think) , Paparone, Cutler positive signs from all of these kids, something to look forward to.

I'm positive Mr Mitchell would have been really pissed at the way the wicket was treated on the weekend.
I did lol at the goon at half time chasing away any auskick kid that might have strayed into the centre wicket area.

Gotta protect the wicket with all that winter cricket coming up... just put a drop in pitch already ffs.

Mitch Robinson has become one of the best things to happen to this club and probably to happen to him as well.

Every week I listen to the players lounge and look forward to it. Massive story, up there with the Lamberts coming back.

When he copped that knock against Sydney and looked like he might miss the rest of the game, it felt like we had lost a vital cog. The second he came back on though, he threw himself at the contest and took another knock.

This club has it's culture back, now just go and get that swagger back.

agree, not with the same skill level but his attack on the ball and man remind me a lot of vossy. would love to see him one day up on the dais on GF day accepting the norm smith holding Chance & Charlie after 30 touches-28 contested and 25 tackles.

Great call. It really was something to behold against the Swans.

Couldn't agree more. I had my doubts but I'm more than happy to admit I was wrong.

Players lounge every week just lets you peek into the inner sanctum a bit... and I don't think Mitch knows how to not just tell it like it is when he talks about the meetings and feedback. It's not a line by line run through but he's not afraid to let us know how they and the coaches feel... it's honest and it's refreshing.

And it puts a lot of the hypothesising on here into perspective.

We're not there yet but things are on the up.

Aish only has 1 disposal at nearly half time... :D

He is going all Jimmy Toumpas isn't he, and he just doesnt look like improving. He pretty much just seagulls around teh contests and hopes a ball lands in his lap which he will likely pointlessly hospital handball anyway. Geez he looks a long long way off. I hope the little sook ends up being delisted within the next 4 years

Gerard Healy continually stands up for the team when Ricciuto and other commentators sink the boots in. Example.

Roo: They need to fix this away form, they are getting flogged every time they leave the Gabba.

GH: Wesr Coast are just as bad and they made the grand final last year.

Will show more heart and ticker than half our midfield today. Disgraceful effort from our most experienced players post quarter time.
Honestly cant wait to see people who care play. Our midfield just didnt do anything. Bulldogs game 2.0. Oh wait positive thread. Sorry.
