Please get good lions. I've got a 4 year old son that I want to take to the footy. But I'm not driving that far to watch what they are dishing up at the moment.

Love the lions and can't wait to go to footy with my son.
It's gonna take a loooong time buddy.

The way we are going he will be driving you.

The young midfielders like Mathieson, Jansen and Keays and what they can be with the likes of D Beams to learn from.

Eric Hipwood is racking up goals with ease at the moment and it's caught me by surprise. I thought he'd only kicked two last night, then saw he'd actually kicked 4. Has kicked 8 goals in his first 3 games so if he played a full season and kept that strike rate up he'd kick just under 60 goals for the year. A big ask to expect that but he's clearly capable. Sides could be sending their best defenders to him instead of Schache if he keeps this up.

Hipwood seems one of those players that a defender thinks he has safely covered yet somehow finds in the last moment, Eric has somehow gotten into a better position to take the mark. I think he has been well schooled in good body position and watching the drop of the ball and then just using that height of his when it counts. And it will always be hard to win against a taller player in that situation. There won't be too many taller than Hipwood. I have also been impressed with his kick from set shots...very slow and deliberate but great straight line. I suspect he will struggle for a little while agains tthe very best defenders but with a bit more bulk he will be a nightmare.

I think he looks a lot like a forward well suited to this era. He moves intelligently, is agile, competes aggressively in the air and finishes well. Even if he only puts on 5-10 kgs of muscle over a couple of years, he's really exciting. Once Schache gets his goalkicking confidence back, we're going to have some potent scoring options.

As an aside, it was a nice positive to see Bastinac using the ball well into and inside 50 on the weekend.

Feel sorry for the defenders coming up against Hipwood and Schache in the next few years, good luck. Add Ballenden to the mix too. Going to be some great years ahead with all our talls.

A big positive for me from the game was a few changes leppa made during the game. Mcstay who had little impact (few cheap goals) went back and had some touches. And the flip side was andrews forward to try and stretch their defence. Which would have come off if the boys had abit more experience.

If we had a one-use only cloning machine, I'd be dragging Harris Andrews kicking and screaming into it as we speak.

I'd call the clone Andrew Harris for the bonus benefit of ****ing with the commentators.

Need to name the clone Harris Andrews. One plays in defence and the other in attack.

The biggest positive is that Hipwood is too young to grow a pencil moustache, or with that Haircut he could be the tallest Hitler impersonator on earth.

Hippy is really showing schache how it's done. Would be great if hippy turned out better.

I'd like to see roles reversed where Hip gets Steven May and Schache is let off the leash.

Not just last game though. Dont get me wrong schache done ok on may. But there was contests where hippy was against may and done better. Not bagging the schachesta.
