When we start to attract very good players who aren't returning Queenslanders we will have turned the corner.

With Fagan and Noble on board, the re-signing of Darcy, the delisting of Green and the appointment of Tapping with other new coaches to follow and the four top draft picks, it's hard not to think that a new era of sustained on-field success is about to begin.
yeah cos green was really holding you guys back

Who are you?
I think he was referring to Green's inability to adhere to off field standards. An organisation who will remove plodders regardless of talent is surely taking the first steps of moving in the right direction. Thanks for the input.

You're bringing the wrong vibe to the 'positives' thread mate.

Greenie brought more than on-field performance (which itself wasn't that great) to the table that made his new preferred contract offer sound ludicrous. If he doesn't lift his professionalism he won't last long where he's gone either.

A positive is plenty of father sons coming up. Anyone know when their draft year is ?

Casey Voss was running around today, so he must be close to draft year
Played against my son in under 12s in one of his 2 years in u12. My son is under 16s this year so casey would be either u16 out u17s.

Brisbane Lions father-son prospects: Casey Voss, Jake Bradshaw, Nick Blakey, Lachlan Harris

Aspiring Brisbane father-son prospects

Lachlan Harris (18-years-old): The son of Leon Harris (186 games with Fitzroy)

Jake Bradshaw (17): The son of Daniel Bradshaw (222 games with Brisbane Bears/Lions)

Nick Blakey (17): The son of John Blakey (135 games with Fitzroy)

Casey Voss (17): The son of Michael (289 games with Brisbane Bears/Lions)

James Rendell (17): The son of Matthew (177 games with Fitzroy/Brisbane Bears)

Lachlan Johnson (16) and Preston Johnson (14): The sons of Chris Johnson (264 games with Fitzroy/Brisbane Lions)

One thing that occurred under both Voss and Leppa that was a big issue for us was the fact that 3rd/4th/5th year players would stagnate after a promising 1st/2nd year. Very early days and we can't really judge this properly until the conclusion of this season and beyond, however, I think it is exciting that Mayes, Andrews, Gardiner and Robertson all had arguably career best games last night and McStay and Cutler played well as well. I was really hopeful when Fagan came on board that he'd implement a big focus on development considering that is one of the things he is known for and we have such a young list that needs development to be a primary consideration. Early signs are promising!

the great standard of the umpiring.

while you are never going to get a perfectly umpired game of footy, IMO the umpiring through this round has been of a high level, particularly the crackdown on incorrect disposal, they have cracked down on it very well, hopefully it is a rule of the year and not the week. also not awarding a free for every feather touch head high or the man with the ball initiated head high contact is great.
