Yeah our 4th/5th year players have all shown clear improvement. I'm speaking of Mayes, Gardiner, Taylor and Robertson. McStay was good in Round 1, poor in rounds 2-4 but he was terrific against the Dogs today. Hopefully he can keep up the form he showed today.

McLuggage seems to have adapted to AFL level now. Was in amongst it when the game was on the line and laid one big tackle and put his body in the firing line when it was his turn. Thought his disposal was a lot better today and that goal!:thumbsu::fire:

We have already won 8 quarters of footy this season last year for the whole season it was 17

This is something that can't be underestimated imo. Didn't it take 6 rounds to win a qtr in 2014?

Be the end of Round 5 last year we had already lost 3xgames by 50 or more. When you compare to last season it is a massive improvement.

Yeah we've improved heaps this season. Painful for different reasons because if we took our opportunities and didn't fade from games we could genuinely be 4-1

Fagan. After being critical of the last two head coach appointments I can say I have nothing but total respect for the man. He will be the man who will lead us to September action. His personality is exactly what we needed for such a young list. It's a good time to be a Lions supportor.

Positive: even the cretin Barrett said in a few years time we'll likely have the best spine in the comp.

Another positive: Schache will kick 4 this week.

IF They don't all leave at the same time and leave us in all sorts of trouble.

Better to be late to the party than never arrive a mayes ing.

Grab a beer and get comfortable.
I have always known he will be a star. I have just pondered if he should already constantly be in our best 22. He is still very young, very raw and will be very inconsitent. His body still isn't really right to compete against the best defenders. I don't see why he wouldn't go back to the reserves every now and then to gain confidence and more ball. Iirc, he use to get quite a lot of ball as he was more of a tallish midfielder before his growth squirt. Doesn't touch it a lot atm

A strong reserves team is usually a sign that the seniors are heading in the right direction. I remember when the reserves won the flag many years ago it was not that many years later we started to win 1st of the 3 flags
We were NEAFL Premiers in 2012 &2013.

He'd be playing on blokes that are both too short and too slow to get anywhere near him. Wouldn't say he'd learn nothing, but, unless he starts to look jaded with senior footy, not sure he'd get a lot from NEAFL.

Wouldn't be opposed to giving him a run on a wing though. He'll have a few wing man pooing their pants. Running them down one minute - plucking a mark 2 metres above them the next.
