One thing I like about Martho- he is proud of being the first person in his family to finish high school yr 12.

Justifiably so.
Shit, I never thought about it but I'm pretty sure so was I. Weird.

At the back of my mind I was thinking that no matter how far ahead we get Fremantle would still get the win. The character shown by the whole team to hold off Fremantle at the beginning of the 4th quarter is what will take us to our next premiership. A big step in the right direction was taken tonight. Let's build on this.

Many already have but I would also like to give a special mention to Nick Robertson. He's improved out of sight this season and has turned into one of our better, more consistent players. He'd have to be one of the first picked each week now.

Some credit must go to Fagan and our increased investment in development staff for getting more out of guys like Taylor, Robertson, McStay, Keays, Barrett, Gardiner, Mayes ect.

If you told me on Wednesday that Schache would sign a new contract, we'd beat freo by 10 goals and Port would get smoked by Essendon I'd assume you had been reading my dream diary.

What a week

Tom Cutler kicked 3 nice goals tonight. He's always been accurate in front of the big sticks. I think long term he'll probably be suited to playing on a wing where he can use his run and carry, long booming kick and goal kicking ability to good effect.

There's something special about that guy. I reckon if we push up the ladder while he's around he'll blow us all away.

Oh yeah - the new screen. It's really good.

Just need to replace the one that *I* always look at and everything will be great.

Tonight was the first time in I don't know how long that I was able to read the score. Good night for it and all.

I know it's been said many times already, but I think in future years the fact that we were able to turn pick 2 into both McCluggage and Berry will be looked back on as one of our most shrewd trades in a long time.

I do not know what GWS got out of that trade.

It's not like we would have taken Taranto at #2.

There were some late picks that made it a bit more even.

Fundamentally they wanted a player that could make an impact early. Trade didn't seem crazy at the time.

Methinx they were expecting the Bombers to take Macca at 1, leaving them with McGrath at 2.

Yeah, it was all about maximising their shot at McGrath.

Having said that, with the way Taranto rose up the rankings late, we probably shouldn't completely rule out the possibility that we'd have considered him if he was available. He would have fitted a need.
