Tom is a great player and has been my personal favourite at the Lions for a few seasons now.
He has the ability to be our best player IMO, a big call I know, but he has all the tricks, breaks through lines and has one of the best kicks at the club and even better, he is humble and is a classy bloke.

In his first 30 games McCluggage only three times had 20 or more disposals. In his last 3 games he has managed to have at least 20.
Really building nicely isnt he. Was a bit off with his finishing today but you always feel confident with the ball in his hands.
I also saw him burying in at one stage - not just going to be an outside player. Willing to get his hands dirty and based on his tackling improvement this year he will make the improvements necessary in his game to become elite.Really building nicely isnt he. The crowds this year have been great and have a different feel to them.Last years game against Carlton at the Gabba had a crowd of roughly 18,000 - up to 21000 this year. You'd think with the blues poor form that less of their supporters turned up so it was a good turn out from lions supporters. Win over freo no doubt helped. Keen to see if we can manage 20k plus for all the remaining home games.
Found this at the bottom of an article on the SEN website talking about Carlton not playing Harry McKay. Safe to say Eric is currently the pick of the bunch, and he and Charlie Curnow's careers are likely to finish head and shoulders above the rest of them.
Key forwards from the first round of the 2015 National Draft
Pick 16: Harrison Himmelberg - 30 games, 19 goals and 10 goals in 2018
Pick 14: Eric Hipwood – 45 games, 68 goals and 27 goals in 2018
Pick 12: Charlie Curnow – 40 games, 51 goals and 26 goals in 2018
Pick 10: Harry McKay – 8 games, 15 goals and 12 goals in 2018
Pick 9: Sam Weideman – 15 games, 8 goals and 2 goals in 2018
Pick 2: Josh Schache – 33 games, 31 goals and 6 goals in 2018
Kane Cornes made a similar case today in that AFL.com.au panel show. Basically saying that statistically and on age, he is tracking even better than media darling Charlie Curnow.
Crows fans are good travelers so expecting a solid crowd for the game against them in a few weeks time21K at Gabba yesterday for Lions/Blues (last v 2nd last)... Kangas can only get 15K to Etihad today, hang on I thought all QLDers were bandwagoners??
Is it getting too far ahead of ourselves to suggest that Hipwood could be our very own Buddy like player? Similar athletic roaming styles, he has already kicked some Buddy type goals.
I can imagine him taking 3-4 bounces down the wing in a GF being chased forlornly by a troop of outclassed defenders and slotting a goal from 40 meters tucked up against the boundary line.
Fitness might be an issue
It's tempting to compare them because they are both tall forwards and left footers but actually their physiques are quite different. I know you aren't suggesting Hippy will necessarily be as good as Buddy but the latter's statistics over along period are mind-boggling really. He kicked 73 goals in his 3rd season and 113 in his fourth. Over the next 6 seasons he didn't kick less than 60 goals a season. Eric will hopefully continue to improve and be a fantastic attacking option for us but the reality is Buddy is a once in a generation player. Is it getting too far ahead of ourselves to suggest that Hipwood could be our very own Buddy like player?
