Yes four or five smothers. Also the slowing down of the game when required showed some real maturity. I know it was only Carlton but they are all good signs that things are starting to sink in.Saw something from us several times on the weekend that I haven’t really noticed before: blokes under pressure not taking possession, but executing really clever tap-ons to the advantage of teammates. Great attacking tactic.
Been a vast improvement in smothering, too.

Noticed in the last 2 weeks our skills seem to have improved, we are hitting a lot more targets.
A lack of pressure from the opposition is always a positive.

Maybe this is nostalgia rather than statistically supported but, growing up through the eighties, it felt like 100+ scores were far more regular than this.Through round 16 number of times scored 100 plus:

We don't need him to be anything but the first Eric Hipwood. I reckon comparisons like this are really hard on the young player involved. Buddy is the best performed KPP over the past 10 years and plays in a way which I've seen only one or two players replicate in my time watching footy - Ablett Snr being one. 17 clubs haven't got a "Buddy like" player. Eric could be a very effective key forward for the next 10 years and not necessarily be worthy of comparison to Franklin. Is it getting too far ahead of ourselves to suggest that Hipwood could be our very own Buddy like player? Similar athletic roaming styles, he has already kicked some Buddy type goals.
I can imagine him taking 3-4 bounces down the wing in a GF being chased forlornly by a troop of outclassed defenders and slotting a goal from 40 meters tucked up against the boundary line.
Agree, I was having a fantasy moment, I do like player comparisons though, when Eric swings around on his left from outside 50 and slots it through the middle I can't help but think that reminds me of Buddy. Maybe I should've said he has some Buddy traits. We don't need him to be anything but the first Eric Hipwood. I reckon comparisons like this are really hard on the young player involved. Fantastic band and great song, IMO it should be our catchphrase message for the competition re 2019.
Better than Carlton's infamous " They know we're coming", ours will have a better ending.

Watch us go into overdrive then.If only we had a backman named Turner...
Jeez I hope we win. Some of the most obnoxious supporters I've encountered those Crows fans.Crows fans are good travelers so expecting a solid crowd for the game against them in a few weeks time

No thanks. Can't spell "turn over" without Turner!!If only we had a backman named Turner...
Tell me about it. Even my Crow obsessed wife wanted to knock a few out. Most were good but the bad ones are terrible. What made it worse was one of them was yelling the incorrect names.
I immediately remembered the 33.21.219 the Bears kicked against Sydney in 1993.Yes I've thought the same thing on many occasions over the years, I'm pretty sure there were higher scores more often back then.
...but it will only be us oldies who can remember, the youngins on this board wouldn't have a clue, most were only a twinkle in their daddies eyes![]()
