When was the last time a team played finals seven years in a row?
Since the introduction of the final 8 in 1995, the longest is 9 by Sydney 2010-28, then 8 by Geelong 2007-14 and Collingwood 2006-13.

Geelong has missed only 3 times between 2004 and 2025.

Other streaks of 7 include Geelong 2016-22, Essendon 1998-2004, Hawthorn 2010-16.

Sydney have made the finals the most often during this time, 24 times in 31 seasons, Geelong 23/31, West Coast 19/31, then Brisbane Lions/Bears 17/31, and if the Bulldogs beat Freo next weekend they'll also be 17/31. GWS have made the finals 8 times in 14 which puts them slightly ahead of us on %.

Cam Rayner has been a very slow burn even taking into account his 12 months off with an ACL, turning 26 years of age next month and 165 games into his career the next 5 years will be his peak, and still considerable improvement to come IMO.

Probably not Dusty levels but I can see Cam being a star of the competition and gaining an AA selection or 2 over the next half a decade.

Lohmann 22
Wilmot 21
Ashcroft 21
Fletcher 21
Morris 20
Gallop 19
Marshall 19
Ashcroft 18

Over 1/3 of our likely starting grand final side will be under 22, I can’t remember a grand finalist with so many young players.

Hopefully we extend a few more this off-season similar to Fletcher.

The last 3 finals have been amazing. Totally outplayed the Suns in the last 3 quarters. Then two blistering periods in both the PF and GF to pull away from the Pies and Cats. Unbelievable - there were like perfect football two weeks in a row.
Finally, our supporters were amazing. Those bays at the MCG full of maroon, blue, gold and 'Fitzroy red' are beautiful to see. A kaleidoscope of supporters that are very passionate, supportive, and loud. The Gabba crowd was in full voice in the Suns game as well. Going to be another great day in Fitzroy and Springfield today.

I can't help but feel that the new restrictions on drafting and matching bids is actually going to make it harder for other clubs to catch up with us over the next few years.

Congratulations Saints

I reckon the attempt to remove draft benefits was a play to show how ridiculous clubs views are towards said benefits.

Each club is fueled by self interest and would rather get their rewards then pull up the ladder behind them.
