Its been a tough couple weeks and the players have copt their fair share of dribble from the Carlton BF already and its only round 2! For every average game a player plays, positives can be taken out of it. In guernsey number order, please mention the positive impacts the player has done during rounds one and 2 or the one game they have played and what you have liked. I'll begin and start with Russ as Walker is obviously injured.

#2 Jordan Russel (played round 2)-
* Looks like he has bulked up a fair bit.
* Has certainly improved his marking.
* Still not fantastic but decision making has improved.
* Watching him closely, seemed much more determined.

There are still 20 games to go.. We were never going to beat St Kilda and we generally play good against Essendon.. Saturday Night at the G.. We win - I get very drunk and celebrate... We lose... I get drunk anyway

Keep your chins up, Carlton just have to work hard to establish a winning culture again. It sounds easier than it is, you have a lot of players that haven't seen all that much success so it is a baby steps process of getting back to the basics and doing them well and learning to do them for four quarters.

After feeling a bit down about things after a big build up in the pre season, I had a good hard think about things and began to get positive again. We are in a much better position this year than we were last year. Here's why;

- Under pagan we where at maximum fitness and ready to go by round 1. SO everytime we got smacked by 100 points, there were no excuses. This year we are under done, people coming back from injuries, adapting to a new coach and therefore new gameplan, and have much more depth.

- Last year our midfielders consistantly got high numbers of possesions and our forward line was kicking high scores. This year our possesions are down and fev is yet to fire a shot.

- This year our backline is looking more competant and with the inclusion of jamo and his ongoing development, it should get stronger.

Therefore as the year goes on and our mids begin to work into the season, our forward line begins to fire, our general fitness picks up, and our game plan is implemented, we will begin to see a much improved carlton side that will string a few wins together.

Beleive it or not, even without a win, we are in a much stronger position now than we have been in the last 5 years. IMO

I think there are a number of positives to come out of the first two weeks. You can clearly see that we have a number of players underdone and unfortunately they happen to be a few of our most important players.

The first quarters in both games has shown what we are capable of but being able to sustain that intensity with a few players not 100% was always going to be difficult.

With each quarter that passes hopefully Stevo and Juddy get closer to match fit and we can sustain the effort for longer. (that's if Juddy's injury will allow it)

Bower is an improving player and Thornton has been fantastic.

I liked Eddies game on the weekend too.

  1. Walker - zip
  2. Russ - played o.k. vs Saints. Seemed to be charged with running on both Geary and Gram as they ran out of our defence. In the end struggled to stay close to either, but kept presenting as a marking option for 4 quarters.
  3. Murphy - The only thing stopping the media from raving about the emergence of Murph in thr fist two round is that Judd gets all the media attention......and Murph trying to sustain it for 4 quarters. Probably leading our B&F with Thornton right now.
  4. Gibbs - Looked lost in the midfield in week 1, but returned to the HBF and had his highest possie game for us. Plenty to work on but is coming along nicely
  5. Judd - the first round showed what we can look forward too. Second round showed what we have to settle for right now. The best taggers will shut him down ATM until his speed improves.
  6. Simpson -Slow start to 2007, but look to have hit the ground running. Some poor decisions, but finding plenty of the footy and giving us plenty of run.
  7. Bentick - zip
  8. Kreuzer - set to debut this week after a good pre-season
  9. The improvement in our defence can be partly attributed to the pressure Saddo puts on from being outside the selected side.
  10. Hadley - looked short of a run vs Tiges, but was quite good in and under in the first half vs Saints. Good over head as well and will be a ripper when he gets some more run in his legs. Will replace Bentick as the number 1 in and under if he hasn't already.
  11. Can't remember whose number this is.
  12. Blackers - zip
  13. Fisher - another 2 goals.....in a clearly underdone performance. Will be better for the run this week.
  14. Brown - zip
  15. Grigg - Needs to work on flatter passes rather than up and unders, but actually started to move with the footy vs Tiges rather than stand still to make decisions. Should get some more game time in the next few weeks with some hard work
  16. Setanta - getting some fitness and form back. Might take the resting ruckman this week as Laycock and Hille tend to push forward. Will be the backbone of our defence
  17. Bower - looking much more confident and backing himself. Doing good defensive work but needs to keep it up for longer periods.
  18. Betts - finding plenty of it and kicking some good goals. Disposal needs to be more consistent.
  19. Benji - zip
  20. Austin - zip
  21. Hampson - kicked a nice goal but well negated by King. Will have learnt a lot about rucking on Sat night
  22. Hartlett - presented well and tried to be an enforcer as CHF in the Spadling mould which is great. We have no hard nuts.....just needs to do it with some sense.........there are cameras at AFL ground Harts.;)
  23. Stevens - some glimpses of his 2007 best in round 1. The boot went missing in round 2 but has only played 2 games in 12 months.....plenty of upside.
  24. Fev - from chocolates to boiled lollies. Great unselfishness in round 1. Needs to work on his kicking accuracy and rely less on being "hot" to kick well.
  25. Anderson - zip
  26. Armfield - named in the best for the Ants this week. Maybe lining up for a call up.
  27. Cloke - has been fantastic as an undersized ruck. Competes with everything 100% of the time.
  28. Scotland - Good first week, average disposal letting him down vs Saints. Will be great in the midfield rotations this year.
  29. Waite - good in week 1......sensational in week 2. Not many players in the league can say they have got Riewoldt's measure. Waite has.:thumbsu:
  30. Banno - I'd have him in our top 5 B&F after two rounds. Shut out Deledio completely in round 1 other than a soft free. Kept dal Santo to an average game and put plenty of pressure on his disposal.
  31. Thornton - Two great weeks. Good job on Brown in week 1 (Brown did his damage when Thornton went off him) and beat Kosi all ends up on Saturday night.
  32. Hoops - Not bad but not great. Kicking some goals which is good to see.
  33. Wiggins - Named in the best with the ants. Probably behind Hadley and Bentick for the hardman tag......and maybe just ahead of Russell for the small lead up HF.......Russ seen with more upside.
  34. Pfeiffer - People forget that was hid first senior game on Sat night. Disappointing to see some want him out already. Was quite good and kicked a great goal from 50m.
  35. Edwards - Started both games well and faded. Looks worried kicking from the RFP so shouldn't keep leading there
  36. Jackson - unlucjy to get dropped week 1, but named best for the Ants so might be in line for a call up.
  37. Jacobs - zip
  38. Jamison - servicable on Richo, but with our backline doing well last week without him may not be an automatic in vs Dons.
  39. Hill - zip
  40. Shields - zip
  41. Carrazzo - slowish start to the year now he is spending less time in the centre Sq.
  42. Aisake
  43. Ellard
  44. Joseph

How did I do?

I can't remember many times in the last few season where at 1 quarter time we are clearly in the lead. Last 2 weeks this has been the case. Even our wins (bar Port) last year we had to chase tail to win.

what about ur stat by stat run down in the other thread!!!

that requires some time, to pause and type etc
All from memory. :D;)

Actually, babybear had a good sleep on Sunday and I had the chance to review the tape and make some notes.:p

Waite - good in week 1......sensational in week 2. Not many players in the league can say they have got Riewoldt's measure. Waite has.:thumbsu:

3 times...OUT OF 3!!! :D

Banno - I'd have him in our top 5 B&F after two rounds. Shut out Deledio completely in round 1 other than a soft free. Kept dal Santo to an average game and put plenty of pressure on his disposal.

Totally against the grain on BF but oh so true LOVE IT!!! :D

How did I do?

I'd only point out that no one's wearing Lappin's #12 this year (I know, I know...Grigg still running around in #16 puts a dent in BG's and my credibility) and as such from Blackwell on, all your numbers are -1.

Stupid computer and auto number function.
When I left 12 empty I must have deleted it.
Sorry for the stuff up folks........but hey......who reads this shit that closely anyway.........I mean you'd have to be a real nit pic.......oh.....sorry Yossy.:p

P.S.

I think we need the please explain from BG too.

It's called attention to detail and being a virgo, even when skimming over, these things still stand out, even if only out of the corner of my eye...and while we're on the topic of details, if you are going to go with Yossi as opposed to Yoss, it would be achieved by adding an 'i' not a 'y'.

P.S.

I think we need the please explain from BG too.

Well all I can say is that he told me himself that he was going to be getting #12 and he was very excited about it.

BG's the one who says she was standing next to him when he got the phone call from the club confirming that he would get the #12...

Well put, lets stay positive at least until halfway through the season. Do ya think the BF members could try it just for once.
