This comment will probably go down like a lead balloon but I hope Lance Franklin is either suspended or has a minor 1 week injury prior to the Essendon vs Sydney game. URGH.
Same. He is bound to explode eventually and so are the Swans. It could be any week now.

Disagree about Hurley. Pavlich has been in some really average form this year (and if you've been watching him, hes been very slowly paced) and I thought if Hurley wanted to show us what he could do he'd give Pav a bath today.

If I were to pick three players that went above and beyond the call today it'd be Heppell, Daniher and Gleeson. Ran all day, tried hard, impacted the game.

Hurls had no help and did as well as anyone could on pav. Pavs easy kicks were a result of others in our side, as hurls didn't give much away.

Gleeson was the real positive.

Our midfield didn't cope with the heat, as we let thier midfield run strongly past us and get goal side far to often and broke down defensively.

Melksham and zaharakis have been really disappointing do far.

The good news is that when our quality extracts its digit, we can go to a new level.

I remember saying if we could pass round 4 with our percentage above 90 I'd be happy. We're 2-2 and 119% so I'm very happy. We've gotten two of the three contenders out of the way already and don't play the third contender until round 15. Things are looking really good.

We lost a game in Perth with half our side playing half of theirs in summer heat, I don't even feel bad about the loss.

Draw opens up now with Pies the only 50/50 game.

I've watched Pav pretty closely (didn't see the Hawthorn game though) and the only thing missing was his kicking boots (and some delivery v GCS in the rain).

Well put Ben

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned Ashby yet, thought he was really good

I actually thought he looked a bit out of his depth in the second half.

I'm impressed by gleesons disposals, every time he kicks he seems to hit a target. Jackson merret seems to consistently find space the past couple of weeks too. These 2 young kids are a massive positive and I hope bomber leaves them in for every game they are fit to play.

I was actually pretty impressed with how well Colyer ran out the game. Obviously he butchered the **** out of the ball, but his engine combined with his pace could be a weapon throughout the season, possibly as sub. He'd need to sort his kicking out, but there's really something to work with there. I'd be inclined to give him another run against St Kilda, even if it's just to give someone else a rest ahead of ANZAC Day.

He has had 5 years to improve his kicking. Why do people think he will be able to turn it around still?

Anyway, the positives.

Gleason is a player. Really really good one (soon).

We actually owned the first half and some more tidy disposal and less umpire bullshit would have seen us go into halftime in the lead.

We have a lots of first 22 and depth players to return from injury soon:

Ryder, Bellchambers, Myers, Chapman, Fletcher, Dempsey, Ambrose, Kommer, Pears, Hams, Dalgleish, etc.

We don't play Hawthorn or Freo again in the home and away.

We got to test a few more young guys out under pressure.

Colyer will hopefully never play for us again.

Jetta showed once again why he is the goal assist king.

He did struggle a bit with the pressure Freo put on, but I thought he got himself involved more than last week.

Apparently he was sick during the week.. so it probably was a fair effort. I also didn't think he was bad.. kept Pav pretty quiet except for late in the 2nd when he was taken off him and then in the third when Freo was running rampant.. not much any defender could do against that onslaught.

I thought Hurley was one of our top 3 players going into half time..

Didn't think Jetta has that bad as some are making out - kicked 1.2 and set up a couple of others when no one else was really doing much down there.

Gleeson is a jet
JD certainly busted his gut yesterday
We have some great INS over the next few weeks:- Dempsey, Ryder, Chappy, BJ, TBell, Myers & Fletch to name a few
The next 4 games all look more than winable:- St Kilda, Pies, Bulldogs, Brisbane

I thought Heppel was clearly BOG for us. Threw it all at the game, never gave up and gave us good delivery.
Gleeson again shows great class, punching above his weight (literally!) Ashby did enough to show real potential and Stanton tried hard all day..
Given that we didn't have the usual input from Watson, Melksham, Zacka, and no Goddard, Chapman, Meyers in the engine room, and no ruck, we should be in pretty good shape over the next few weeks

Oh, and how hard was Daniher at ground level for a big bloke? Launched into some contests like a startled giraffe, arms & legs going every where..:D

This kid was the main positive.

Don't like Colyer that much as a player but I don't like the way we have handled him either. He is a guy who lacks touch at the best of times and this time around he was thrown into the pressure cooker having not played a game for three weeks.

Like you've said, his running is or should be elite and something that could be a real weapon for us. If it is going to work out he just needs to be left in a side that is functioning properly rather than getting a game here and there after the wheels have already fallen off.

Have not seen the game yet but his games looks pretty good by the numbers (17 disposals, 1 goal, 2 goal assists and 4 tackles) so I'll watch with interest.

I'd say there's a couple of danger games in there (Sydney, Richmond, Adelaide) but we should start favourite for the next 9 weeks for sure. Can't really see us dropping any except maybe Anzac Day.

Brisbane toweled us up last year in what was probably our most disappointing game of the season (although the GWS game was terrible as well), it will be interesting to see how we go up there. We should be favourite but the one thing we really haven't shown in the last decade is any kind of consistency.
