I just hope so much that Alex can play out the rest of the season in full. Imagine if we snuck into finals and he played a finals game or two - you’d be so confident as a fan heading into 2022 with AP at the peak of his powers aged 27.

My buddy is only 1-3 weeks away. He’s gonna come back in ripping form and tear open the comp. He’s paying $18 for the rising star right now. Get around it!

In all seriousness I’m looking forward to watching him come back and start stringing together some games. His kick off HB would be huge to our teeny tiny, slim chance of finals this year. If nothing else, he can start building for next year.

Plus, It not easy being my buddy. It’s like having a weight around your neck as you’re trying to swim upstream. You can over come Youngy!!!

I’m still not convinced that you can play Hamling, Pearce, Ryan, Cox and Logue in the same back 6.
But APs 200cm frame and spoiling ability against the big key forwards is so valuable. fu** I’d love to see him giving the likes of Kennedy and Hawkins a pantsing later this season.
Regardless it’s a moot point as they will never all be fit and available at the same time

For mine - Hamling gets left out. Pearce plays lockdown, Cox the 2nd KPD, Ryan looser and Logue on the smaller guys/3rd tall depending on matchups.

It's easy to forget just how good Hammer is - a bit like when people were writing Alex Pearce off. Hamling is best 22 every day of the week - I'd be finding a new spot for Logue or Cox if everyone is available.

I know this is the positivity thread but re Hammer he's sounding a bit despondent at present.

Not because of any inside knowledge I think just the frustration in not knowing how long it's going to take to even get the minimum strength required to take off and land reasonably well.

Really doubt it's career ending though. We are probably talking being fresher for 2022 than this year.

Sydney and GWS have a couple of testing weeks ahead, assuming we can get the job done against teams lower than us. Then we might be hitting our stride when we deal with Sydney, Richmond, Lions Eagles on the trot..only Sydney away at this point which might need to be moved anyway (but also sucks if it does 'cos I live in Syd).

Getting pretty excited if we ease Tabs and Fyfe back into the mix and our defensive structures (inc Pearce, Wilson and Logue) have another half a dozen games in a row together.

Sure he can play but I want two season playing 35 plus games before I consider changing my mind.

Hamling is in the same boots. He can play for sure and easier is in best 22 by a comfortable mile but can't get on the park.

In saying all this, can you have Hamling, Pearce, Logue, and Cox all in the same team, with Chapman, Hughes, Young, and Ryan as medium defenders?

Then you add Wilson as a small defender. That's 9 defenders without counting Walker, Tucker or Aish.

For my likings, you have 3 Tall backs, 2 medium backs and 2 small defenders as balanced defense.

Having Cox or Logue playing WAFL isn't a great idea except for Peel and a waste of salary cap space.

We need to move on a tall back and rather keeping the younger players in Logue an Cox.

Walker, young can move up onto the wings.
Logue can move onto.the midfield.
