I came in to say something similar. His level of performance is much higher consistently than it was. He has grown this season.
Looking forward to Darcy being back and Jackson going to the middle/forward. Would have been handy to have him as a mid in some centre bounces today.
He is a huge positive for the year!
I try to tell myself I don't care, but I do. It's hard to enjoy not being good when you don't even get the only perk that comes with that.

It makes a bitter pill that much more bitter. I guess the "fun" (well, fun adjacent) you can take from a poor season without finals is how mid table we can finish to make it that much more mild.

Pardon the intrusion. I reckon in 10 years time you absolutely win the trade. Unless we take a generational player with your first this year it’s just super unlikely Jackson’s output over that time isn’t equal to or more than Jefferson + who we take this year.
Jackson legitimately could be the best player in the league, that’s how high his ceiling is. He’s exceeded my expectations for this year and I’ll forever be sad he left as so many people sleep on just how good he is alrrady.

Yeah I cant believe how far he's come along already and I can already see Dee's supporters getting pissed at the "Freo made him better" thing that most Freo supporters should be comfortably aware of with Neale and Langdon. In all three cases the players just continued on their progression or hitting primes.

I don't buy that with Lachie. He was that good here on a consistent basis but never got the recognition because he played for us and was in the same team as Mundy and prime Fyfe. I also don't think Langdon has really improved that much (if at all) compared to how he was here.

I agree though I think he’s been better at Brisbane but not because he wasn’t already excellent with us, just hit absolute peak age and like you said, not in the shadow of others.
Just making the point it must be as annoying for Dee’s supports with Jackson as it was for us
It will work out well for us but, we shouldn't have had to give the 2nd rounder. He was coming home and wanted to come here. Very pricey trade, from a payment pov.
I think two things can be true.
- He will be an amazing player who has improved a heap this season and will have improvement left in him.
- We paid to much and 2 firsts is a steep price based on a lot of projected improvement, which while I am confident of, is not guaranteed. And that doesn't take into account potential injuries.
We bet big on potential. He was worth a potential unicorn price, but in start up terms we are only just past pre-revenue and into developing cash flow. Long way to go until he is declared unicorn status.
Now, if it was 3 seasons further on, the future second added would make sense. With the way we are travelling we could finish as high as 10th or low as 13th. Pick 6 - 10th, plus a good second rounder. Saying you got ripped off is bordering on the ridiculous.

Although, not sure your assessment is correct given our recent form. Could be bottom four inside a month unless we turn it around. So even from 15th (even 16th) through to 5/6th. This also means we could go on another run and be 7th in a months time. Positive again!
North keep losing Joao so we will have a very early second round which will be useful. I would back walls in to find a very good player with that pick 21 (which will probably slide to 25 by the time the pick comes around on draft night.
