I mean sure, but it's not really a flank role

This just seems like such a reductive view on what he does when playing well. I'd agree we need to get him more than 1 position but you can have link up players in the middle, every team has them.

andy doesn’t win many clearances…that’s a problem

Is it if the other players are Young, Jackson, Serong and Darcy? They don’t all need to be winning clearance. I would like to see him develop other positions but putting as a primary flanker role is a no go for me

id play him on a wing personally.

use the gut running ability.

Henry or Stanley on one wing, Andy on the other

Wouldn't you then be singling out whoever has taken his role in the midfield for not winning clearances?

IMO, it's the role not the player that accounts for his low clearance stats. I checked in on his stats sometime just before the run of wins mid-season, and he was second only to Serong on average clearances a game, up by 1-1.5 clearances a game on 2022. Lately he's been used differently, and hasn't been registering any clearances, but even so, he's averaging 4.5 a game (up from 3.2 for 2022).

He doesn't have to do it as an inside mid. Why waste a centre clearance spot on him when we have better and he can still run where he likes if we swing it properly.

The Young move makes that midfield trio work like it was meant to. He's the Cerra replacement but with a bit more mongrel. Brayshaw/Young/Serong is the starting midfield for the next 10 years and they all compliment each other really well in there
Yeah that’s a premiership midfield trio.

weird dismissal of what andy brings to our team tbh, one of the best players last year averaging more clearances this year. its clearly the combo we have in there this year that isnt working, we looked great more often than not last year because we had mundy/brodie in there along side andy and serong rather than JOM (no offence Jags).

Whatever has happened, (I imagine teams worked out our small midfield can be bullied) Brayshaw has been relegated to standing behind his opponent and tackling. There is no way that should be happening just to keep him inside mid as his primary position. He is too valuable for that.
The midfield last year often got wiped by bigger body midfields.

'Andy to the wing' ffs it's not happening and nor should it.
That is a very narrow minded pov. His elite attributes are two way running, tackling and finding the ball. A midfield of Jom/Serong/Brayshaw is too small, slow and one dimensional. Brayshaw's elite attributes would easily translate to a wing and improve the midfield mix.

Agreed. He literally won the Players MVP and was an All Australian as an inside mid just last year, I don't see why you change that.

To be fair to Nod, he’s never torn up at Peel. He’s the type who will play as well at AFL level as he would in B grade amateurs.
You’d think they’re waiting on him to build fitness to run out a game as we are a much more dynamic team with him moving well & he offers something different to anybody else on the list.

He never has torn up for Peel but he should. I see no reason why guys like Henry, Sturt, even Banfield, can tear it up for Peel but O'Driscoll can't.
