We are doing 90% of what we need to and getting in to great positions to pinch wins and that’s even when - like today, last week and the North game - when we are underdone, looking rusty, slow, lethargic, can’t get going etc. We are getting the ball forward, trying to get scores on the board, trying something different

We are 6-1 in the last 7 games. Let’s check up again after the next 7 and see how we go.

We had a weekend where every top rated team won against their much lower placed - and generally out of form - opponent. If games like this coming weekends fixture were happening in conjunction with our game, a loss would nowhere near have felt as bad because it couldn’t have been every other team around us getting a win other than ourselves.

There’s a lot more contender v contender games happening until the end of the season where us winning and a team around us losing could see some pretty big shifts in ladder positions.

Positivity, here we go.

1. Still very much in it.
2. The club has evolved and has solved several problems as they've done so (slow starts, close finishes, etc). The tagging issue feels like something that can be solved; I'd back Serong in at this point, doesn't strike me as someone to shirk getting better. Once it is, the team becomes genuinely hard to beat.
3. Still have Young to return, and Darcy to improve as his match fitness does.
4. Genuine match-winners on every line.
5. If JLo is not the guy (not convinced either way yet), the vacancy will attract everyone.

All losing to Sydney has done is turn the Hawks game into a must win. Heave Ho!

Positivity: Think it has been mentioned elsewhere but Wharfie Time hit real different last night. Sometimes it comes off as a bit too random or dare I say lame, but last night it felt like the whole stadium and everyone on ground were on board (pun intended). That, plus Andy hyping up the crowd as he went off for his head. Really awesome stuff.

It seemed random to me because it came on so early. IIRC there was still about 7-8 minutes left when it normally comes on with about 2-3 minutes to go.

Yeah came up and thought there were only like 3 minutes left but there was still 6 according to the afl app. Really wonder what they use to decide when to put it up

I'm pretty sure it can only be played after a goal. I would guess that the rules to play it are:
  • After a goal
  • Margin to be 12 points or less
  • Last 10 minutes of game time.
The saints game had it after Saints kicked a goal to get it to 6 iirc which wouldn’t fit that criteria (unless I’m remembering wrong)

I mean after any goal, because that's the only break in play long enough.

Dudley kicked our second last goal to make the margin 10 points, but there was still 12 minutes left so it didn't fit the criteria. With a minute and a half left Treacy rushes a behind to make the margin 12 points, but it's not a goal so it didn't fit the criteria. Then with 50 seconds left Owens kicks a goal to make the margin 6 points and Wharfie time is triggered.

Against the hawks it was triggered when Treacy kick a goal to put us 11 points ahead with 7 minutes left.

I wonder if it’s some Pavlov’s dog trigger.

Russian spy and the players go beast mode.

Which they did. 2 x heave ho!!

Re: Wharfie Time. Maybe they are going to loosen up with the timing of it and sense it more on vibe of the game? (edit: obviously still fourth q and if it's too close to call etc). Anyway. I think they nailed it Saturday.
