The Premiership Favourite 2026

Dogs havent been able to defend, they have done nothing over the offseason to rectify that so no chance they should be favourite.

The Crows should only get better, Tilthorpe will become the dominant forward in the comp, Dawson & Rankine are genuine guns and Soligo and Curtin are well on their way.. They will have learnt from the finals series last year and IMO should be considered the #1 challenger to Brisbane who off course should be favourite.

They can't be trusted.
Classic case of the media being seduced by their top end, without consideration of what it takes to contend for a flag.

Would I fall off my chair if they won it? No. But they're just one of 9 teams other than Brisbane who can win it.

And for all those declaring Brisbane over the line in 2026, I hope you realise the analysts rate Daicos more likely to win the Brownlow than Brisbane are of winning the premiership.

I don't think you can go past Brisbane for another 3 peat. They've only got stronger from last year with some handy additions.
I also have a feeling Gold Coast will be a very good chance. Talent across the ground.

Yeah look I actually agree, just wanted to join in on kanes “not so subtle”reverse troll of the bulldogs and more pertinently, Luke beveridge.

Ladder predictor I had

Hawks
Lions
Suns
Freo
Crows

As my top 5 without overthinking it. Suns could easily top the ladder.

Don't think its a trust thing tbh. The expectation put on them by people like Cornes overrating their list is what leads to disappointment. They are 100 percent a top 8 list but top 4 ? Premiership ? I don't see it.
Although Cornes only put Dogs on top as part of his tedious and childish gamesmanship v their coach.

This one seems to be cutting a little deeper.

talk is already starting about Neale heading back to WA

lions will be challenged, there are a few sides who’ll test them

Last year Neale missed rounds 22,23,24, semi final and prelim final. Made it back to Grand final as a sub.

Midfield is one area we have strong depth and multiple players roll through it - we'll be fine either way.

To be fair his cameo as a sub in the GF was brilliant in helping Brisbane break Geelong. However it was clear in the preceding weeks that their midfield performed very well without him. Washcroft and Bailey at more stoppages seemed to do the trick.

Maybe Adelaide? = did they fluke 2025?
Crows should finish between 5th to 8th and win a final in 2026. Cats, hawks and Brisbane should be the flag favorites

Will Day unlikely to be the player the Hawks hope he will be, which is a damn shame for at his best he is so good to watch. Just don't see how the Hawks improve enough to win the flag with their current crop.

Will day is only one player. I think the hawks side is still solid.

I will be honest here.

I didn't think Brisbane would of gone back to back flags in 2025 without Daniher

Neither did I. The difference though, is Brisbane's forward line was still potent and they still had Hipwood and Morris as key talls.

The Hawks midfield is desperate for more quality - hence their chase for Merrett.

I just don't see the likes of Ward or McKenzie plugging the Day hole, let alone stepping up as B grade mids. No matter the Mitchell tactics, the engine room is bare.

Lions and Suns then daylight. Suns seem unbeatable but unsure I would trust them on a rainy prelim against the Hawks for example at the G.
