I saw a lot of “it’s unfortunate Coffield did a knee but we’ve got Battle and Highmore now” when he went down like he’s some sort of second/third tall. It’s the way Ratten uses him but that thinking is completely wrong IMO.

I tend to agree but I suspect Ratts is was trying to improve his defensive game last year. The number of times he got caught out ball watching is indication that he has a weakness in that area and I was wondering why he wasn't being allowed off the leash like in 2020. Anyway that's just my hope.
In Coff's absence I reckon Pato will slip in nicely, although I have to admit that as long as Hill remains at HB I can honestly say I have no effing idea what's going through Ratten's head.

I tend to think that as he gets older he'll keep getting a bit better until one day , when he's close to 30, we'll go...Hey!!!

I'm confused , it seems like half the Saints supporters think Coffield can be a midfielder, while the others think he's a key position back, with not much attack.

Think we drafted him with hopes he will become a mid. Think he will in time

Back to basics: Battle setting up camp in defence

Up forward, down back or in-between the arcs: that’s the question that’s continually surrounded Josh Battle for the past few seasons.

Battle moving back is much known already, but good to hear it from the horse's mouth.

It's true we don't have a seasoned CHB but I would bet Battle or Joyce could more than fill that position.
Battle looks to be in the best shape he has been in and Joyce by the looks to be ready to fill the role.
With Enright as the defense coach I would fully expect our backline will be up to scratch.
Having Howard , Webster , Wilkie , Highmore , Sinclair , Paton , Battle , Joyce , Allison , Geary we have the players to hold any team.
