he called an all in with a qk flop? what a donkey? so many bad beats from pub poker but that's what happens when there is nothing on the line.

So true. Even I play a bit more loose at PP :).

Still, good to get a challenge by playing different people = you have to adjust.

Pretty sure it's $3000 for first Cartman ;)

If it's the one at Sandown Park, I'm also going today.

Yeh was very happy when they announced the prizes, my mate told me it was $700. How'd you go mate?

Anywho bubbled in 23rd place out of 140 runners. Top 16 qualified for nationals with top 8 all getting a nice cash amount. Card dead for the first 2 hours, sat on my 10k starting stack until I doubled shoving 8bb's with JQhh right before the break and winning a 60/40 against AK. With about 40 left, again fairly card dead had just been folding the entire day and stealing the occasional blinds was getting fed up and went on a massive tilt sess, shoved 6 hands in a row without getting called and everyone getting pissed off but I didn't care. More than tripled up from that.

Only hand I played that wasn't a straightforward ABC hand all day. Blinds 2/4k, i've got $43k, 79os in the sb, LP limper and button limps, I limp also, BB checks. Flop: 8h9hJs I lead out minimum (good enough for information) and the LP limper and button both flat, turn 3s. Pot is $28k, shove all in for my remaining $35k and take the pot down - clearly on straight/flush draws.

So that put me up to $63k and in around 7-10th place with 23 left. Two bad beats to knock me out; guy min-raises from 2nd position 6 handed table. Dealt 67ss in the BB, flat call with the intention of shoving any pair/draw on the flop. As 6x 7x, check shove after he's committed himself. He calls with AJ, turn Q river Q. Standard.

Left with $20k, fish min-raises UTG ss who has the same as me shoves in, I call with AKos. Fish is obviously priced in and calls. Fish shows 10Qdd, Short-stack has 66, first card: Kh - what am I after that card?

Kh 4h 9s, Jd...wp sir. Probably the most pissed off i've been in a live game ever, dunno why but it just really got to me. Probably because it was a really frustrating day, folding for the first 2-3 hours on a shortstack all day and the second I get some chips and manage to get it in good I get cold-decked. But anywho, already qualified for the next one so looking forward to going back.

Nicely done cartman, unlucky beats. I was card dead too, up to about 16K before the first break, had AA in BB folded to me (*sigh* haha).

Lost most of my chips with AQ vs AJ on AJ5 flop. Got away from it in the end but probably last a third of my stack and was short from their on in. Had 6K left, lost a race with QTd.

Also already qualified for the Bayswater Regionals. Good luck for the next one.

Thanks mate, good luck to you to. I'll see you on the final table.

Forgot to write about one key hand early, blinds 200/400. UTG with 9h9d, raise to $1k and 3rd/4th position players call. Flop: 9sJsQs, lead out $2500. First player folds, the other guy instantly goes all in. Looked like either KJ, or a big draw. Eventually called and he flipped over As10h for the double draw. 58% to 42% my way; turn 8d, river 10c. Chop it up. He begins to tell me how lucky I got.

Heh, won an APL event tonight. Not a bad effort, I suppose. However, APL events tend to bore me somewhat. There aren't too many opportunities to be creative with your play, unless you're playing with people you know aren't complete idiots. All in all, I really didn't play too many hands all night.

It helps when some idiot basically donates all his chips to you, though.

Situation:

Blinds: 200/400 My Stack: 17,000 His Stack: 20,000

Look down at KK on the button, folds all around to me. Raise to 1400, SB folds. Instant all in from BB. I think for a few seconds before calling. I know how the guy plays. He could have as little as a weak ace. He turns over Js10s. I lol to myself and turn over the kings.

Flop: 3h As Ks

I'm now shitting myself knowing that he is basically at even odds now. Luckily he doesn't outdraw me and I chip up to 34,000.

From there it was basically a case of choosing my spot when I had to and avoiding what I have a tendency to do at Pub Poker - getting bored and start playing way too loosely for fun. :p Got a slab of Vic for winning, so I thought I better go for the gold.

And so ends my boring little tale...

Thats the worst thing about free league poker in WA. Because free poker is considered "gambling" by the state department for Racing Gaming and Liquor, we cant give away prizes for the winners of our non-proseries games, or even things like most knockouts, best results in the longrun etc.... The proseries games and cash tables are licensed so we can. I was pretty shattered the first day I won an APL event, because I thought the winner would receive a bottle of Wild Turkey like the winner of the lucky prize draw (allowed because of no skill, just a lucky draw). Was pretty bummed after making an effort to overturn a 7:1 chiplead at HU play. And by overturn the lead, I had the lead and nearly lost :D

Anyway, a trip report for everyone today...

Yesterday I had some time to kill so decided to go down to one of the APL cash tables and play some live poker for a change rather then online, plus catch up with some friends who live near the pub in particular. Made an effort to not open limp at all, and be ubertight UTG and UTG+1. Actually folded ATo UTG at a full table and showed the guy working, who told me I was an idiot because it was a big ace... so lol....

I won the very first hand, which is a good sign. Basically I posted in LP, checked my option and with no SB the BB checked and I took it down on the flop. After that ran pretty quiet and did not much for two orbits. Finally won a big pot with K7dd in the BB. Limped around and I checked. Flopped the nut flush draw and bet 15 into the 25 pot. One caller. Got their on the turn. Bet 25, he just calls me again. River is a blank, and my nuts are intact. I bet 55 (his stack was 80, maybe I should have put him all in and looked to be stealing) but nevertheless he folded what was probably a pair draw...

Chopped a big pot with AK. Two limpers the CO raises to 20 and I have AK in the SB and bump it up to 55. He shoves for about 70 more and I call hoping for AQ and getting AK as well. Board runs out a jack high straight so Im happy it wasnt AQ:D.

Other then that it was a lot of small pots winning now and again, playing literally about 12% outside the blinds, and only defended my BB, I think with Q8ss once when raised, though it wasnt raised often.

Because I know you guys have missed having the question, we have a WHAT WOULD YOU DO!1!!!! question...

The loosest player at the table, who is ok but not great, open raises to 15 in MP with a stack ~150. The CO ~200, probably the best player apart from me at the table and a player who knows MP pretty well and has made two moves back at MP, one good against a standard c-bet which worked and he showed Ace high and one bad against flopped quads calls and I call OTB with JT s00ted having them both covered.

The flop comes 36Jr with one of my suit. PFR bets 15, and the CO raises to 40. This is actually one time where there was an arguement for almost every possible play in the book. Should hero...

a) Fold. There has been a bet and a raise from a pretty good player. If he has a stronger jack or something big then its going to cost a pretty penny to call down. However I HAZ PAIR so thats a factor

b) Call, and play the hand passively the rest of the way. This would most likely induce a bluff on the end if he is weak, but again, if he is strong with JQ+ then it will cost me later, plus any over probably scares me. Over two streets an over above a jack will come about 40% of the time.

c) Call, and bet when checked to on the turn, or reanalyse if I am bet at again. Calling will let me know about MP's hand a bit more, and I have position for the later streets, and I am not yet pot commited... However, he has a lot of solid bluff cards he can use on the next street.

d) Raise to something like the minimum raise, so in this case 65. MP folds most of his range because of not closing the action, and I will probably get checked to on the turn if the CO calls, which he almost certainly will do if he calls. If he shoves over the top I can still find a fold for 120ish more...

e) Raise properly to something like 100. This is 85 more for MP and 60 more for the CO. If either player matches this bet they will have less then about 70 behind, about 20 for the MP, so this bet definately pot commits me. It will get all worse hands to fold, but I dont see it folding many better hands at pub poker... Also could damage the "supertight" image I was trying to set (which incidently I dont have, because I cracked an old blokes aces with 34 s00ted at a cash table once, I was the one that raised in late position, he minraises from the blinds, I call getting a squillion to one and flop two pair... gg)

So a, b, c, d or e... which one should I have done???

After I finish stacking/rebuying/bemoaning a bad fold (cross whichever is inappropriate...) I get K3o in the BB. Nearly the whole table limps in, and I check ldo. Flop is KJ9 with a flush draw, i.e action and a ****ing half. I check, checks to a young kid in MP who actually kind of has it against me. He bets 20 into this 35ish pot. One caller from a station in the HJ, and it gets to me. I think about it, this kid is pretty lose, and station has some kind of gutshot, so I decide to call and pray to the God of Offsuit Deuces... Everyone else folds. Turn, an offsuit deuce... woopie... I check. MP bets 30 this time into a now 100ish pot. HJ folds and I call, and again say a hail Mary to the God of Offsuit Deuces. Im close on the river, I get a 3 to give me kings up... This is where things get interesting... Im pretty sure his low pair and gutshot combo have missed, so I check to induce a bluff at his pretty big pot (160). He decides to check behind, saying something along the lines that MY gutshot missed, and I cant call. I fastroll two pair, and its good...

This was the moment that I let myself down a bit on the night. He complained that ZOMG AK got cracked on the river, Im such a fish, how can you play that s**t etc... etc... Normally I would just say something along the lines of I got lucky, lucky hand etc... and try and move on. However, this kid and me we dont get along and I thought I would pull him up on it. I effectively told him in front of the table that there is no way YOU would have limped with AK second in, in fact it was far more likely that you had a hand like JT for a pair and gutshot and checked behind on the river with showdown value, and that you should have made a thin value bet with AK on that board provided Im someone who wouldnt checkraise, so basically if you are going to bullshit at least make it half belivable like K7 or something...

It was a pretty good rant actually but it did tone the game down for a while, and then I got a phonecall to come watch Footy Classified so I cashed out for what was a pretty good night. Didnt make any really obvious mistakes IMO and only twice did I open limp then fold, one with 44 to a raise and shove, and the other a suited ace, and only one either time did I call/fold, which was with J9, a raise, two callers I called OTB then a shove for 150... Only once did I lose a showdown, which was with KJ against KQ which we checked the whole way on a Axx x x board. Good solid night...

Based on the image you were trying to project on the night I would probably fold, thinking at least one of them had you beat. You mentioned that the person who reraised was a pretty good player, so I doubt he would show a bluff with Ace high earlier only to try it again soon after. I'd more than likely put him on something like AJ or better.

Even if you fold the best hand at the time you will more than likely get a better opportunity to take the money at a later stage.

I'd say the worst thing to do would be to call and play the hand passively. The chances of an over coming out and one of the players hitting a higher pair, two pair, etc basically means you're throwing money away. Also, if overs don't come out the odds of them checking to you aren't good either and you'll still be forced to make a tough decision on the turn or river. At least if you choose to raise a large amount on the flop you are forcing them to make a decision about their own hand.

IMO it's a fold or shove. Pot is 140 after your call, so a shove is about pot size (145 more). If you're ahead, there are probably two or three overcards out there and you don't want them to be drawing and/or bluffing at overcards on the turn.

The other point about a shove is that it's such a strong move that QJ and maybe even KJ could find a fold.

Most of the time I will probably fold this spot, but if not I'd lean towards the shove.

It was actually probably the toughest spot I have ever been in within a pub poker league game, be it either a SnG, tournament or cash table....

In the end, I rated the options as follows...

[x] in before ZOMG your such a fish....

Worst option IMO was the call with the intention to not follow up with a bet on the turn. Basically for the reasons mentions, plus checking the turn when checked too is SOOO bad IMO....

Next worst in my opinion was the proper raise... This pot commited me, and with the caller one of the better players there arent many jacks in his range with a kicker worse then a ten. He plays back, or indeed the MP raiser and I am commited... again, not cool...

Third worst, and indeed third best IMO... was the min raise... Again, fear of being played back at, and if I fold after 3-betting it looks a bit odd to the table, so yeah. I dont like this option either.... Also, the idea of getting QJ or JK to fold at this level is pretty laughable....

This left either fold, or indeed to call and then move when checked to on the river. I thought about it for a long time, almost got time called on me for what looked like a pretty standard spot from the outside, and eventually I called.... MP folded and the CO made a big shrug and checked the turn pretty quick, which was a blank. I bet 50 as a blocker kind of bet to check the river behind and he quickly mucked. I showed a Jack and mentioned that it was probably a bad idea from him to show me the Ace high check raise bluff from before..... Shouldnt have mentioned that but hey, I had a win of $177 for the night and yeah, pretty cool....

---------------------------------------------------------------------

This leads on to tonight. Got hold of a friend who while not a poker player by any means, but indeed loves the old amber ale and we agreed to go to the pub for a game of cards for me, and some beers for both of us....

We, as well as a few other friends agreed to go to MarketCity in Perth for a WAPL game. I played pro series for $40 and decided that I was going to win... Unfortunately things didnt turn out that way...

We had 32 runners and I got on the same table as a casino friend of mine, including the guy that I one-outed at the casino.... Unfortunately for me I had the doom-switch turned on preflop, and couldnt get anything resembling of a hand preflop... However, in good news I actually had the boomswitch on post flop....

First hand I put in voluntarily I get 66 and raise 3x BBish at the first level. BB raises again and I call. Flop is only one overcard, a 10, and I bet when checked too. The checkraise was swift and merciless, and I fold angrily, and indeed tiltmonkey appears...

Im card dead for ages and eventually raise to far from the button in an unopened pot with K9. Two callers... I flop a backdoor flush draw and a pair draw ont he 762 flop and shove for 1100 into a 800ish pot when checked too. Woman snap calls from the BB and fist pumps before I turn over my hand with AK... Turn 9 weeeeee...... And I double up.

Then I made a soul fold. I get 25o in the BB, which I got about 8 times tonight:(. Flop A34 and I am a wee bit happy, cept its all hearts and I have the 5h. I bet 300 into the 500 pot. Woman just calls. Someone shoves for just enough to reopen the betting. I think about shoving, I just call. Woman then shoves... I :( and actually fold face up to receive ridicule from my colleagues. She shows JThh :) yay for soul folds.... Other guy had A4...

I double up again against my friend P. One limper at the 50/100 level and I overlimp with 20BB's remaining with Q8s OTB , which is probably LOL bad but Im drinking and I dont give a s**t. This is when s**t hits the fan...

Flop is 568r. P from the SB bets 400, which is pot. Fold and it gets to me. I think about it for a second and knowing P I decide to shove in this spot, which is IMO ok. I shove for a total of 1800. To make things easy for P, I take out my call of 400, add his bet into the pot, and leave my 1400 behind to make things easy to see for P and indeed the other player. Another player, who is in the CO, objects to this separating of the chips, which is brutally obvious. I interrupt. because as I am the dealer I need to be in control of the pot and the chips etc... its WAPL rules, plus I obv. have a bit of background so yeah I tell him its my turf. He asks me who the **** I am, he is xxxxxxxx and yeah, who am I. I quite wrongly mentione the fact that I have done this s**t before and name drop that I work for APL, which was very -EV, he tells me he makes a living off APL and WAPL games and that he will be in contact with my boss... My mate goes to step in, and indeed I have to step in to stop him from belting him... Fun stuff...

He asks me who I am, and I reply Ashley xxxxxxxx and that I work for xxxx of APL. He tells me that he knows xxxxx, and I should have my phone turned on, because he is going to call him up and complain. I laugh because surely he is bluffing. However, 10 minutes later I get a call from the boss and yeah, unhappy times....

Oh, and for the record the board was 568, I have top pair solid kicker, my mate snap calls with 56o ldo... Cept the turn was a Q weeeeee..........

Other then that no hands before the break and we get to the break with a stack of 3400, average is about 4000k.

After the break, I managed to avoid entering a pot until I get 44 shortstacked with 4BB in an unopened pot OTB and shove ldo. Both blinds call. Flop is lots of low cards, but not the one I wanted... 235r. SB bets 4k, BB shoves for 6k, SB calls. SB = AJ and BB = 88 and I dont catch up... gg me....

So me an friend are about to leave for home, but I decide I must take the moniez from idiots at the cash table. So yep, give me $150 in chip tokens please to distrubute around...

First hand I get KJxd from MP where I posted and I checked. I probably should have raised with a poster behind but I checked. Poster checks and the blinds check (5/5 structure). Flop is AT5 all diamonds, giving me a gutshot and third nut flush draw. I bet 10, and one caller. Turn was a king of red pointyness, which is a diamond. A very bad card for me, giving me the second nuts. I check and the AK woman bets 25 with about 50 behind. I cry inside, if I call and she has the Qd she shoves the river. Anything less she gives no action.... In the end, I decide sho could have a lesser diamond in her range and just shove. She thinks for 15 seconds, which is a great thing, because the Qd, the only hand that beats me is the nuts. She eventually calls, I turn over my Jd which is almost certainly the nuts, except it isnt.... wow.... gg $100....

So Im down to $50 and not happy. I fold for 20 minutes and decide to GAMBOOL with Qx shoving over 3 limpers for $40. All limpers except one call, which is ok if I am live, and I am against AJ.... I hit a Q and life is swimmingly...

I go card dead again, until getting QJ in the HJ IIRC. I raise to 20 over a limper and get a two callers. Flop QT3r. Checks to me, I bet 25 leaving not much behind, One call. Turn is another Q and I shove for 30ish when checked to me. He calls with AK for overs and a gutsa but is drawing dead, (jack gives me a boat) which is always nice.... This gets me $8 in front, and mate wants to go.

At this point, I almost had what could be said was an epiphiny... Basically I saw how much time I had wasted in regards to online poker an less focus on uni etc... so have effectively resolved to go out more with mates rather then play online, as well as do uni, family etc... over cards.... I agree with my conscience to just play to my BB, and the pokergods reward me with a double up on the second last hand. Someone limps UTG and I raise to 20 with TT. 4 people see a flop. Flop 267. UTG bets 20 and I raise to 60. Folds to UTG who tanks for a while then calls. Turn 6 and he checks. I think for a moment then shove for 78. He thinks for some time, says I have big pockets, then calls. I turn over 10's, he shows 9's in a bit of a cooler and I scoop the pot...

Best thing though was I counted up before leaving and counted $306. Got to the cashier desk and unfortuantely didnt have $306... Instead I had $356:thumbsu: Extra carton FTW...

I <3 poker now... for a while

APL has cash games?

APL and WAPL in WA suffer from a government ruling which states that prizes cant be given out for tournament results in the freeleague i.e we cant run freerolls with great prizes that go on in the Eastern States. However, when permits are acquired for the organisation of the pro series evetns ($25 for APL and $40 for WAPL) it includes the organisation of ring games. For both of APL and WAPL the rake is pretty steep, WAPL slightly better the APL, but the play is LOLOL soft... like really really bad... Probably not profitable in the long run but good for a drink and a laugh with a relatively nitty game...

Pretty sure no ring games operate in teh Eastern States though...

BTW, love the fact that whether APL runs ring games or not takes precedence over my tale of fortune, glory, heroism and a dick who called my boss to dob me in for being a bit naughty...:eek::D

hahaha well I've read your post but I cannot make out anything really why the guy called your boss, probably has to do with the fact I cannot sleep and it's 3am, then when I read the part where you were playing cash games in APL. I was thinking damn I need to get some of that action . Played pub poker once a while back 'cause my mates all wanted to play, I made it past the first round, they all ditched went home/crown. So I won it, won a food/alcohol voucher, didnt use the voucher because it expired in one week ftl...

This made me feel really bad.

That guy sounds like an egotistical dick if you ask me, all you did was seperate your chips which made it nice and clear of how much it was to call and he cracks it? No doubt he was down at that point of the night and just felt like being an arse. Probably shouldn't have name dropped but it would have been too hard not to.

Played a week or so ago at WAPL cash table. Bought in for a little above the minimum which was a mistake. Had the most epic hand ever. Fold for 15 mins straight with 10 7 being the best cards I see. Big blind raised with 3 players and I look down at 97hh So i call. Flop is J108 all hearts. I try not to poo my pants. Checks out turn is 3h. I bet half the pot (like 15), player next to me raises to 45, player next to him calls (big ass dud he was) I calll, player next to me shoves all in, everyone gets all there chips in the 4 hands were

Me : 97hh
Player next to me JJ (Worst shove ever)
Player next to him Ah10s
Player next to him Qh9c

Picked up around 350.

Few hands later get pocket Qs, small stack goes all in for 55 after I raise to 15 so i call, he has A K and turns a K.

Was about to cash out but decided to play 1 or two more hands, Bad move. Get 88 and call a raise 3xbb. Flop is 8 10 7 two diamonds. Both of them have about 180 in chips and i have 300ish and am last to act. One of them raises 30 next bloke shoves, I um and ah. SERIOUSLY consider folding here. At best hes got a flush draw But its 160 call for me into a what at that point is a 280 pot so reluctantly call, guy behind me folds a flush draw. Douche turns over 96dd for a straight and a flush draw. Dont hit a full book with 2 and J coming out. Left about 15 bucks up including dinner.

Anyone think I should of folded there. I hate trips. I never fold them when I should

Depends where you play on the LOLOL soft factor. Paddington on Monday by FAR the softest. Generally players on the table are HAMMERED drunk and making big ass raises. Get a pocket pair shove and guaranteed to get a call just cos they want to see your cards rather than any real shot of winning.

Woodvale is the toughest because alot of ex poker dealers from the casino hang around the cash tables and they are generally good players.

Had a very very sick day yesterday. So sick and crazy, but I shall start from the beginning...

Elected to play poker at MarketCity, with all my uni work done and to catch up with some workmates and friends (sick brag). Anyway, two workmates have decided to play, plus P, the guy I one outed at the casino so yeah, its a quality lineup.

One of my workmates gets knocked out second in the ProSeries (LOL), but I run ok. Someone told me that the most exciting thing in poker is flopping a set with the set card actually in the door. I actually disagree. I think its better when the dealer deals the cards faceup one at a time, with all four people against me being excited with what comes out, then getting a set of ducks on the last card... Got paid pretty well by that one against top top and a busted straight draw.

Other then that the tournament was pretty standard, Basically after the set I cant really get a hand and eventually get stacked at the 300/600 level down to 3 and a bit k. Someone limped and I shove A6 OTB. Limper of course had AT for teh superslowplay... gg ash12...

So cash table it is. I wait for my BB and fold the first hand to a raise pre. Second hand I get a pair of red one's. About 3 limpers so I raise to $30 total playing 5/5. P is on my left, which kind of sucks. He asks for a check so decides to call ldo and we play the pot HU. Flop Q83 or something like that with one club. I c-bet 35 or something and he snap calls. Turn was the Tc IIRC. I bet 65ish and he calls again. River was a baby club. I checked to induce a bluff which was pretty average. He shoved and had me covered. I never really thought about it and called. He turns over 85cc ldo. GG $200....

I play on, actually tilted a bit and ended up calling a raise with 76dd over a couple other people. Flop came 7 high and gave me a gutshot. PFR from the SB bets about half pot and it folds to me. I shove for not much and he calls. I announce top pair and turn over. He announces no, he has top pair and shows KK. Against a knowlegable person I would call that a slowroll but yeah, gg money again.

Then on my final buy-in I get told to straddle and elect not to. I of course get KK. I raise to 15. P decides to pop to 55. Folds to work colleague who shoves for 200ish. I almost folded with P behind me, then I realised I had kings so I sacked up and called all-in. P folds what was apparrently Jacks. Colleague has AKdd. Flop is all hearts below 9 and I have the Kh which kills one of her outs. Turn and river blanks and I chip up. At that point we had a few people leave so we were down to three handed. We elect to play another couple hands then head home. In that three hands I run so good yet end up losing money... First hand I flop bottom two and get no action. Next hand the pocket ones come back and I raise on the button. P three bets me with 47o and I 4-bet his sorry ass again. He folds pretty quick.

Very last hand I think was P button and he straddled to 15. The other guy calls dark and I called dark too. Flop 56K and the other guy bets 10. I thought he had looked so I looked. I of course have middle set. I raise which pisses him off. P folds 9 high and he decided to call. Turn was a blank and he checked and I bet again. Frustrated he calls and I tell him Im checking the river regardless. River was an 8 not a diamond which means I win..... Nope, 79o is good sir...

So yeah, crazy night, followed by going to the university for the Wicked Wednesday night session for the last hour of that. By the end of the night I have been involved in a uni fight, trying to help tackle a bloke who king hit someone else. Two of my mates went to belt each other in my car, almost breaking a window in my car. One other mate gets done for drink driving after I offered him a lift home and he told me he was fine, and the last manages to twist an ankle...

But the worst beat of the lot. We order Macca's and we are short one burger, which of course happens to be mine...

They're sneaky - you have to watch them, especially when you're drunk.

After the Carlton loss, I thought a delux chicken burger might ease the pain somewhat. When I get home, I realise they have hidden a regular old McChicken burger in the delux box.

To top it off, I also made a chip in the computer desk that i now scratch myself on everytime I use the comp.

All in all a pretty bad night that one...

Thinking about heading out tonight to play some APL.

It will be my first time, so not really sure what to expect.

Can anyone give me any tips/general info?

Everyone is terrible, don't do anything fancy just play ABC poker and you'll be fine. Watch the blinds/stack ratio depending on where you play it's different but you're usually <10bb's at the late stages so better to shove/fold then limp and try and see flops.

My mate won regionals on the weekend out in Bayswater for $3k which was nice, he couldn't go to Nationals so got him to put my name down. :)

I played some pub ring game poker on the way home from a mates. It was about 11 local time and I couldnt be stuffed actually making an effort to head to the casino.

The hour I played was pretty standard, with only one real hand of note... A few limpers, I rap the table with QJ in the SB and the BB also decides to knock is the play to make. Flop Q82. I elect to donk $10, and the BB minraises. Folds to me and I just call, making the pot now ~$65. Turn was a 6 and I check. Remember, the pot is $65. The BB bets $15. Im getting a decent price guaranteeing a river card, and call. The river is another 6. I checked without really having a look at my opponent, which sucked, because had I done so, I would have seen his face drop when his Q2 got counterfeited on the river, and could have snuck in a $40 value bet.

Other then that, pretty standard. I made one move raising a limper with 72o OTB, and c-betting a J7x flop and taking it down with the best hand. I showed that, to hopefully get some action when I received monsters. However, no monsters were forthcoming and I didnt get paid...:(

Net Profit = $55 for an hours "work"
