Who wants a Republic?

I am just curious in the figure as it has been over 10 years since we had a referendum for it. Personally, I think we should become a Republic.

I find the experience of watching the reporting around this so odd.

You'll see tv hosts and journalists announcing what a momumentally historic event this is, and what an incredible life and legacy she leaves as one of the great political figures of the last century, and then follow it up by talking about how she loved corgis, visited Australia a bunch and didn't take herself too seriously.

I imagine this is the end of an era in the sense that Elizabeth will be the last monarch to be taken seriously.

The end of an earnest colonial entity. It's going to be hard to maintain the thinking that there is a relevancy to this as we continue on into this century.

She was 20, the same age I was when I was married. Not a kid, but young by today's standards.
