There are many questions that cannot be answered which I think build up to one collective question.

> why players who have been consistently poor maintain their spot.
> why certain players are not held to the same example as others.
> why there is never a plan b
> why the match day coaching is so pathetically reactive
> why there is no leadership

It's a rabble.

Yeah easy there Tiger. And on the topic of Tiger's, how was the Tiger Penis at Lucky Chan's last night? :stern look
Personally, I only go for the Tiger Knob if it's of the Bengal variety and it must be served with a creamy lobster bisque :stern look

We lack any kind of class in the middle, the class players are the ones that give you the scoring power in less defensive games, if our defensive pressure isn't up there, and it is exceptionally hard to maintain every week, we lack the firepower to put away teams in a less defensive encounter.

We have seen the reanimation of the Laidley plodder midfield from hell, not since the halcyon days of Power, Piccioane, Firrito, Simpson and Rawlings days have we seen a bigger collection of one paced plodders who do not run and carry, have no pace, no acceleration, flat footed stoppage workhorses who once get the ball bang it to boot to nobody in particular or turn it over with skill error.

Greenwood, Cunnington, Swallow, Jacobs, Bastinac, Gibson, Adams. That is the nightmare scenario. Throw in Ziebell when he has a full game.

Greenwood 22 disposals, Swallow 25 disposals, Cunnington 13 disposals, Jacobs 13 disposals, Gibson 17 disposals, Bastinac 12 disposals, Adams 8 disposals. Other than Greenwood and Swallow, the others were exceptionally poor.

We are a team with no outside mids and it is painful to watch and we keep recruiting the same type of players.
Yep. We have too much of the one midfield type. How many guys do we have on our list who can run and carry. Harvey, Atley and Wells come to mind. Anybody else? Hang your heads in shame Joyce and Lewis. :stern look

Why are we inconsistent?

I initially blamed fluctuations in effort. And that may in fact be the case. If this is so, the players should be ashamed of themselves and questions need to be asked of BS who gifts game after game to under-performing guys who for years have given us one good game a month.

But lately I'm starting to wonder if our inconsistency is related to a lack of ability? I know that's a tough pill to swallow because there is no easy fix for that. But Maybe our list has been way over-rated and a lot of the guys simply don't have the natural talent to play 3 good games a month. And this would be a MAJOR problem as the club seems hell-bent on rewarding mediocrity with 2 year contracts.

The one fact remains that this group in its current format, is not a top 4 contender which means we can't win the flag. To make top 4, we must string wins together, and for whatever reason, we simply cannot.

Is it as simple as axing the coach? Who knows? The fact the club re-signed him til the end of 2016 doesn't help. Would BS be on thin ice if this was his last year of his contract? Maybe.
What I've already previously said:rolleyes:but I think the coach is an issue also.

One pace, no offensive value, it really comes down to your definition of a plodder. He is great at extracting the ball but how often have you see him run through the middle and hit up a forward with a clean pass or god forbid go for goal.

Don't get me wrong, you need those plodders in your side to get the ball. Your entire midfield can't be made up of them though.

Midfielders should create and kick goals, they aren't just there to bomb blindly inside the forward 50.

I've said it many times there is nothing wrong with our players individually, it is the the type of team we have created which is the problem. The type of team we have now is Lyonesque, if there isn't extreme pressure from all the team on the opposition then we rely on skill and firepower to win games and we are lacking badly in the skill and firepower department.
