i submitted my tax return (19-20) about 5 weeks ago, i'm yet to receive my refund - is it worth giving the ato a call? or is this a normal waiting period?

5 weeks is a bit longer than normal but you are also a year behind. Check your MyGov page and the ATO link and it will say what stage it is up to - processing, processed, refunded etc...otherwise give them a call.

I received notification mine (via text) was nearing completion within 3-4 days of submitting, and received it in my bank a few days later. 5 weeks is out of the ordinary, for sure.

there was a good doco on sbs or ABC decades ago where they renovated the places of the dementia sufferers back to as close to what it was like 20 or s0 years ago and played the music of the time
They all seemed to improve
