Thinking about buying a Mac. Is it worth shelling out $1500?

Also, are they easy to get used to? I've used a friend's Mac a couple of times and it's like trying to learn another language compared to my Windows laptop.

Firstly, what are your reasons for a Mac?

Have a few uni assignments that require going out and doing work on the go (for example, going to a local footy match and having to pen a match report 10 minutes after the final siren). My laptop currently gets about two hours of battery life, so would like something I can take somewhere without having to worry about battery.

Also, have recently gotten an iPhone so would like to marry the two up.

If I was to create a thread (if there isn't one already) "Worst Sig's on BigFooty" would that be allowed? Or would that be considered somewhat antagonistic?
Anyone who lists the 20 teams they follow from every conceivable professional league in big colourful fonts

I suppose those are valid enough reasons for the Mac.

I don't think I've come across a laptop that is as light as a Mac Air, but the Mac will always be overpriced purely because they can.

I have this $300 ASUS laptop which is pretty small and light, it's kind of a throwback to those Netbooks of the mid 2000s but it's actually quite good. I always have more than half the battery even after a working days use. I think the model is X205 or something. Phenomenal battery life, great Mac like chiclet keyboard, super light and portable, cheap as hell, etc, etc.

Performance isn't spectacular but it works perfectly for MS Word etc and web browsing. Also there's only like 20gb of storage but again, good for what you'd need ie writing up stuff on the run.

You can easily get a same spec'd Windows laptop for half the price of a Mac. You won't look as trendy but it's worth the saving.

Do (most girls) just randomly lose bobby pins from their hair?

Growing my hair out and I've been experimenting with bobby pins on two occasions and have lost one bobby pin each time I get home lol

Is this why they come in a ridiculous pack of 80 to 120?

Yes.
Best way to use them is wrinkled side down against the head...you'll think it's upside down but it's way more grippy.

I've just gone to uni as a mature age student. I haven't been to school in 7 years. Was wondering how long did it take you to get into the swing of things as a mature ager?

I wasn't really a mature age student (I had 18 months between courses) but it did take me a good half a semester to really get back into things. The good thing is the 1st semester (well year, really) isn't too difficult so it's quite easy to find your bearings again.

I guess for someone that hasn't written an essay since year 12 I feel like it's going to take me a lot longer because basically I have relearn a lot of things. So I guess I'm finding it moderately difficult at the moment. Hopefully it clicks soon.

Quick google led me to this post from a day ago, give it a go

First let it on stand-by then press Display, Top Menu, Clear, Power

Then choose option 2, "Drive Manual Operation"

Then choose option 4, "Tray Aging Mode"

Fill the first line with 12450 press enter then 0, the tray will open, then go to option 2 and 4 again, fill the first line with 00000 and press enter then 0, you can close your tray that it will not affect the process, press the power button on reomte control to turn it off and press it again to turn it on, now you can play other regions dvd :)

I also read that Sony DVD players are near impossible to unlock, so I dunno

I'm sure your Uni would offer support classes for writing essays and assignments. I'd definitely look into it if I were you. Your lecturer should also be able to point you in the right direction (or even give you extra help) if you speak to them about your concerns early in the semester.

Yeah I'm in a unit support program that looks into the essay for the particular class so that is hopefully going to help me out a lot.

Can anybody remember during which month the old ABC Sportsman of the Year awards used to be broadcast on TV?
