Orite BigFooty so I have a bit of a dilemma.....................

.Finished Uni last year with business/management degree of some sort
.Since then have been working casually here and there but nothing for a month or two now
.Have had my eye on a particular job for a couple of months. As far as I can see, there's only one company in Melbourne that offers this job. I see this job get advertised for every month or two.
.Have applied once for this job but got knocked back. Well I think so anyway. I saw the job had been taken down from the site. I called the company to see what the status of the job was and they said the position was filled and the unsuccessful ones had been emailed. I defs applied and didn't get an email but pretty sure they'd let me know if I had got the job....not sure what's going then there.
.This is the one job I can see myself in, in the future/would enjoy etc etc
. A couple of months I also applied for a graduate position at Linfox because I thought I better apply for some jobs even though I wasn't sure sure what I wanted to do.
. Got an email today say I passed through to the next stage and that there is a group interview coming up
. I know I'm not guaranteed to get it anyway but I don't think I really see myself this position in the future.
. However I need a job and they would pay good money for a 21yo like me. 50k or thereabouts I read
. They need RSVP by Tuesday
. No idea what I want to do
. Haven't told rents as I know they'd make me do my darndest to get the graduate job as I've literally been doing nothing for like 2 months


This is like choosing my VCE subjects/uni degree all over again.

No question, go for the job that you're still in the frame for.

I would have killed for the opportunity to earn 50k at 21. Besides, you don't need to have your life set and your career finalised by that age, so if it's not perfect, it shouldn't really matter that much.

A question about the tribunal. I have been having a discussion about whether to challenge Mundy's charge and me and another poster differ on 2 points. Mundy's original charge is 125 points and a 1 week suspension. He has a 25% reduction with a guilty plea which brings it down to 93. He has a good record which is another 25% bringing it down to around 70 points. Now my question is if Mundy challenges and loses does he get the week or still get the reprimand with the 6 year good behaviour record?

I'm usually up around 7am no matter what but I think once it hits 9am you've wasted a lot of the morning. I'd say 8-8:30 sounds about right.

they are generally run at such huge profits they can fluctuate the prize pool from week to week as required to generate interest and sales and profits.

the payouts are generally only about 60% of sales.

that hits the punter even harder than the bookies and poker machines.

Your thinking about not taking a job because your holding out for your dream job at one company in Melbourne? This is not going to happen. You have to be realistic.

These are times of employment hardship for new uni grads my friend - that's the reality.

Whatever it takes to get you in the workforce now, do it. At least get some experience on your resume. Nothing says 'don't employ me' like a resume with employment gaps in it.
