All pretty fair points. Hale is simply giving us nothing at the moment. We'll have to bring in McEvoy. The loss of Hill makes it pretty easy to block the only other quality runner we have in Hill. Birchall looks to be struggling with injury and/or form. Suckling simply not hard enough at the contest.

Losing Sewell made our midfield very predictable. I had us at 5th using the predictor which will probably be around right.

Massive game next weekend for both Adelaide and Hawthorn.
I have a feeling that's curtains for Sewell. Welcome back Langford in a more permanent capacity...

There's a bloke called Ross Lyon sitting back smoking his pipe and maybe even allowing himself a private momentary smile at the way this season is panning out. His dockers have got the type of run home they could have hardly even scripted for themselves and they will finish top of the ladder, or at worst 2nd. They will have a home final in Perth v a beaten up hawthorn who are gone as far as flag chances go/a young, inexperienced in terms of finals port/maybe the cats who's number freo have had for a while now. They will then have a week off and play another of the aforementioned, in Perth, for a place in the GF.

Freo are as good as in the grand final, only proviso being a late season horror injury run. Their most likely opponent is the swans, who's number they also have with anything like a full contingent out on the field. The only thing standing between them and their 1st flag is some vintage buddy franklin on the big day

The Swans would annihilate Fremantle if the game was played today.

Cats have a dream run home. Only tough games are Hawks and Dockers - Dockers are at Skilled, and we wont lose that game again. And the Hawks are being crippled with injuries. Almost feel sorry for them! Cats to finish top 2.

That's because we're stuck in Darwin at the moment.

But seriously, our two keys to beating the Swans in September are probably getting Walters back and getting/keeping McPharlin fit. Walters provides the creative spark we desperately need up forward, and McPharlin matches up as well on Franklin as any backman in the league - over the course of his career Buddy has consistently had a lower goals-per-game average against Freo than any other team, even before the Ross Lyon era.

Very true. And again, it just highlights how pathetic and uneven the current fixture makes this competition. Its a joke.
The Cats have done very well to date considering the key personel missing with injury throughout this year and not to mention you've got a reletively young side with half the starting line-up playing under 50 games.

If Geelong happen to finish in the top four, it highlights just how good they are. In my opinion if Geelong can get close to their best 22 on the park come September, they can certainly win the flag.

I agree, but let's stop stroking their fur and making them feel good about themselves!

All the top teams seem to have an easy run home. Fremantle has to play Hawthorn (I don't believe the Dockers have beaten them since the 2010 EF), Geelong at Simonds (yeah, they know they can win there, but still...) and Port Adelaide in a Round 23 blockbuster. If they can run the table from here, as people seem to be predicting, they deserve top spot, but there's some significant obstacles along the way.

Fremantle are certain to finish Top 2.

Geelong struggled to beat Carlton & Essendon. They got wiped off the park by Sydney.

They aren't in the class of Sydney or Fremantle.

That's what I predict too. Whether they finish 1st or 2nd depends on whether they beat Geelong in Geelong or not. Had them entering the finals series minor premiers on the back of a 14 game winning streak. They would be unbackable favourites for the flag and only a monumental choke could stop them from saluting this year. God I hope they stuff up somewhere along the line.

And beat Hawthorn, who wiped the floor with Fremantle. And Fremantle struggled to beat West Coast (difference between struggling to beat West Coast and struggling to beat Essendon?). And Geelong hasn't lost in Victoria in 2014. Agree wholeheartedly that Sydney and Fremantle are the standouts right now and I honestly don't think we can beat either, if we have to play an away final against the Swans or Dockers. But I think you're kidding yourself if you expect Fremantle to waltz into Simonds and take the four points without a big fight.
