this. a more arrogant bunch of supporters you wont meet. Which is truly surprising, given they have won absolutely nothing in their 20 years of being in this comp - unless there is an award for the best draft/trade fails ever -
Freo may well go through and finish top 2. But with games against a Hawthorn side that will be desperate to finish top 2 themselves, and a Port side that have been the form side for basically the whole season, and a trip to Kardinia Park, Im staggered at the Freo mentality that it will be a complete soda.
Not sure how this impression has been given to you - every team has groups of supporters who bang on about how great they are, as well as some who are overly pessimistic and some who are more measured in their analysis. There are some Freo flogs on here, as well as geelong, hawks, sydney, port etc. - when (if?) the doggies ever contend again I'm sure we'll have our fair share of people who think we only need to turn up to win the flag.

I would be staggered if any coach/team thought they were a lock for top two/four, particularly given the way the season has gone so far. IMO Sydney and Freo are locks, but then I thought the hawks would thump NM last night so i'm about as good a judge as most people on here.;)

All three were injured. Sandi and Pav missed half the year, Barlow broke his jaw the week before. Mundy got injured the week before too, from memory Spurr was a late withdraw with illness and Duffield got injured in the first term.
I seem to recall the suggestion that Sandilands and Pavlich (at least) were both held back and probably would have played against Geelong, if it had been a more important game. All four, along with Spurr, played the following week against St Kilda.

Have not read the whole thread, and perhaps i'm biased, but from what I have read, I don't get that impression from most Freo supporters in here. It's comments by other teams supporters which seem to talk us up most. In any case, your comment reminds me of walking around Geelong in my Freo gear before the Qualifying final last year - plenty of sarcastic "good lucks" and overconfident comments before the game from Geelong fans. Point is that there are Geelong fans like that too. I'd also argue it's the arrogance of the Geelong team that cost them loses to Freo in recent times.

Anyway, back on topic. I don't think we are locks for top 2.

RTB just does not hold back fit and available players unless it is the last match of the year. He had a go at himself for not doing it for his veterans last year which ended up with McPharlin doing a long term injury in a nothing game.

Can't imagine it was arrogance that cost Geelong this year in Perth (or ever in Perth...when was the last time we had an easy game against Fremantle there?); the Dockers would have been pretty warm favourites for that. The QF last year? Well, possibly. Arrogance, or maybe stupidity at the selection table (Chapman as the sub, going with Vardy/Blicavs as a ruck combo against Sandilands and bringing Walker in, when Hawkins was ruled out, instead of bringing in West - a genuine ruck - and moving Vardy to play as a permanent CHF).

Well, 'fit and available' is a pretty subjective thing. Do you think there's any chance that Fremantle won't be sending an understrength team to the Gabba in Round 22? I don't.

At the very least, it was a big coincidence.

I think Top two is gettable now with the Hawks lose last night, still think Freo will drop a game though. Our main danger game is against Geelong which I'm sure is going to be a cracking game. The Hawks and Port games will be difficult to win but I think the home ground gives us the advantage. If we want to be taken seriously come Finals time we need to win all three.

A lot of Swans fans forgetting early season form as well as the fact we only scrapped past Port (sure, without Tippett) and have several annoying injuries that keep popping up. Losing a key player like Malceski or Richards could spell huge trouble.

Plus we've hardly been convincing since the win over Geelong. Gold Coast was close, Port was won by some freakishness by buddy, fell over the line against Richmond, GWS was meh, it's not all peaches and cream. Add to that Hawthorn getting their team back, Freo looking dangerous and the aforementioned closeness with Port, this could well be 2013 all over again for us - zero reason for the arrogance from swans supporters.

We're not going to lose another one for the rest of the year, taking our tally to 19.
Most weeks you have our next opponent as a danger game or a loss and now you are saying we won't drop a game for the rest of the year ??? This is the last board for trouting off. The Swans are spluttering at the moment and unless the fuel injectors are blown out and they start firing again on all cylinders like they were a few weeks ago there is a loss just around the corner.

North had 100 more posessions last night if we gave that many more posessions to teams like Sydney, Freo, Geelong or Port we would have got belted.
You seemed to more direct and score a lot more easily than North, win a clearance it would be inside your 50 and you looked like scoring everytime the brainfades and lack of discipline cost you in the 3rd.

I was a lot more disappointed with last nights loss than the other losses this year.

The side that seem to be getting forgotten about in all of this is the Suns. Have a look at their run home.

Colingwood tonight - Reckon they'll just get up
Bulldogs @E.S - They win that one
Lions @ Gabba - Win
Saints @ M.S - Win
Blues @ E.S - Win
Power @ M.S - 50/50
Bombers @ E.S - Win
Eagles @ M.S - Win

Could easily win every game from here on.

Could easily lose 4 of them as well.

North and Collingwood could win every game as well. It's such a stupid argument.
