My son's already asked for it but he's decided to stash it. He tried to give me an Audi once because he was embarrassed by our Mazda, I told him it looked like an undertakers car and I wouldn't drive it. He thinks I'm an a bit NQR when it comes to cars.

My current and two previous cars have lasted me 30 years. All were secondhand and cost $2K, 5K and 10K respectively.
No major, major repairs. Just got them serviced by someone who knows the car.

Got rid of the Peugeot 404 wagon because I was sick the drum brakes freezing in the wet and the resulting aquaplaning.
The SAAB 900 turbo needed a new transmission after 600,000 kms. And I still have the 407 wagon.

No major, major repairs. Just got them serviced by someone who knows the car.

They were. Wish I still had the SAAB. Brilliant car to drive. The old pug was like a hearse. Back when there were real station wagons.

Yeah but Gringo's version of going bush I don't think is too far away. He could take the back roads.
They are totally crap on a highway for any serious length of time. Have a friend who has a manual
one and it's an old school fun car.

I'm 6'2".... I'd look like a clown. I don't care about practical 4WD, just an image. The old 2 door range rovers are going nuts in the UK, those early ones are worth 100k plus. I found one that needs some restoration for $22000 and got excited but the boss says no. It's got to be better than a Subaru Outback off road too.
