So i spoke to a mate who worked at an AFL club on the bench game day.

Apparently the club does have a person who counts and that person is seperate to the person who manages rotations (one person counts the guys coming on and off amongst other things while another person watches an iPad with times and data on the players on field) which seems dumb.

Then on top of that the AFL have an independent person who watches it as well.

At any point you start to get close the AFL person AND the club person usually warn the rotation person.

It seems that didnt happen here (noting my mate was ADAMANT it is not the AFL persons responsibility) but that they also ****ed up by running double rotations when they were inside 70 (apparently most clubs dont do that for exactly this reason).
