Train them early. Seriously from experience, I love my dog but it's a force of nature that shouldn't have been unleashed on humanity without control. Training is just conditioning, do the same thing consistently and set boundaries.
You need to be the boss, dogs are pack animals once you’ve established who’s boss you’ll be fine. Simple rules, consistency and plenty of love and attention. Dogs like to play fight with a bit of gentle mauling is ok, no biting though. They use there mouths a lot to feel etc, no opposable thumbs. That’s why dogs hate koalas the bastards got in line twice and have 4, bloody stoners.

Mine is a rescue, it came pre****ed but I have vague control now, it still thinks it’s making some of the rules though. I think it is a bit of a nutter as well on top of that.

Hi fellas, Iq don't come into this thread much because fighting is boring. But seeming as it's random discussion, I have something random to share, and anyway since you just talked about a broken husband/father, I appeared like Beetlejuice.

I just bought a puppy for my wife's 40th birthday. It's a labrador crossed with boxer which I'm told is called a boxador, although the fella who sold it to us couldn't dig up papers on its parents, and a lot of people are saying she looks like a staffy, so who knows. It's a 3 month old puppy and it seems like it was raised indoors.

People say you should train them immediately, but we can't even train our own kids so what chance do we have with this mutt? We are trying, but it's like teaching Dunstan to kick like DalSanto so far.

She's cute and funny, but is shitting everywhere and getting a little bitey. Our youngest is 6 and she keeps jumping on him and he's starting to get a bit freaked out.

There seems to be a lot of dog people on this board: Any advice?View attachment 1301820

I trained my little terrier using play as the only incentive. Spent hours with her as a pup just playing tug of war and chase the ball and then used her love for that interaction as a motivator to learn commands and tricks as she grew.

The teaching environment is always the same (clear space in the living room) and preceded by a set of routines, hand gestures and commands. Everytime she performs the desired action lots of pats, reinforcing sounds, and play! Sometimes I will also use her favourite treat as a reward (liver crisps) but mostly play.

Worked really well. She can do heaps of cutesy tricks. And responds instantly to commands when other dogs and or children come into her vicinity.

After a while ‘learning’ a new trick/command became the game she most looked forward to. She still gets really excited if I move the coffee table!

Mine is meant to be a pomchi but he has a bit of pap in him. Classic story daughters sister in law paid a fortune for him spoilt him rotten then decided after she got pregnant that she didn’t want him. They left him home alone locked in the laundry type stuff so my daughter just grabbed him brought him for a visit and told them I solved your problem he needs to be properly cared for. He took a day or two to settle in attached himself to me and he’s a fantastic little dog. I talked to him a lot so he started talking calmed down and is a great if badly spoilt family pet. Just needs a couple of ball sessions and a walk and he’s gold. Deb at the Elwood vet says he’s the best behaved Pomchi she’s ever seen. My daughters carry him around he cuddles in to them people ask what he is and how they get him to do it.

Too masculine for gringo, need a poodle or chihuahua to keep him happy

I'm right there with you gringo2011. My girl is 6 kilos soaking wet. Sometimes people s****** when I'm not looking, until they see her play ball. She's a much better judge of the flight of the ball than Jos Buttler. English team would do well to have her in the slips.

Awesome technique mate, nice work. We had a trainer come to our house, meet our pup and give us advice. We have 3 cats already and we don't want them to leave so we need to get on top of it early. She said that Boxers and Labs are both instinctive chasers and we shouldn't encourage that as they will chase the cats (and passing joggers during walks), but it seems a bit sad to not get them to do something that is so inate for them. Her biting us is the most important, but apart from giving her little scooby snacks when she obeys, how are we supposed to reward her?

We watched the first episode of Canine Intervention on Netflix last night and are considering going to training classes asap. Her shitting everywhere is starting to get under my skin, we were advised to shut her in a little dog park tent because "they never poo where they sleep" - well she has 3 times now and we're running out of covers for her big cushion and have to shower her each time.

Anyone watch the absolute obliteration that was the Ashes? Not usually a cricket fan but gave it a shot out of curiosity, ended up seeing quite a historic thrashing.
Yep - Scott Boland's debut at 32 to die for....

Been having it on as am a cricket bug, most inept English side I've had the pleasure of seeing outside of Root. Made even more hilarious by pre Ashes "we so made many plans to win this shit" to then listen to the BBC commentary during to hear the utter offended before they just lay into their own team is glorious.

One of CA's better calls as well with Boland, ever since the MCG did that pitch he's been beautiful in shield, utterly brilliant in bowling, an sure not 6-7 worthy, but that's more on England being utterly inept to boot. I mean, Marcus Harris alone outscored their second innings FFS.

Reminded me of Pickett in the Richmond grand final debut

Would be Chappy's 5 min in '09 if that was the entire game for me. Just one bloke who was all big D energy and "come with me bois!" whilst the other mob threw hands and bent over to take it. Largely reminded me of Chappy since covid scare in the pre match meets banned procedure in the following week so both had medical nonsense immediately.

Got a link to the BBC commentary? It’s nice to not be on the melting side for once.

You think I'm prepared? Gave me far too much credit.

I know they upload some to BBC sounds via Spotify and Nasser and Atherton are on like an hour thing in Youtube after the fact via Sky, but it's what, during you have Beefy and Vaughan via rando commitments with other stations as you do.

That was the 6/7 or is that 7/6 that I have ever seen

No skulling at The G, no drinking from a bottle on the dance floor - wtf Australia
I can understand why an establishment might have a rule prohibiting glass on the dance floor. And the first vid might suggest he was asked to refrain, and if he refused because he just doesn't like being told then that's on him. Nothing to see here IMO.

Such cringe behaviour to start with though. This guys perception of cool needs a hard readjustment.
