The first time I used the Sports Ears (Footy Ears?) Whatever that radio is called, I tuned into the umpires. I was so excited to be the only one in the crowd who knew what the umpires were doing.
Heard someone spew up twice through the quarter. Must be more common than we realise, perhaps it's an early season thing until they get match fit. Pretty gross, I'm surprised they don't try and mute the mics somehow.
Why the hell would you want to listen to the umpires, I want to go and kick the tv in because they won’t shut up.

Tell that to the Beatles, Stones etc 😂
Will have to see what comes of this, if we hear anything, sad regardless

I used to work with an English guy, who was a full on hippy in the 60s.
He was saying how him and his mates would be in shock when some American guy would drop 8 times the amount of stuff that they were taking.

He also said that his doctor told him that the amphetamines had left their mark.

Yeah all those guys took them, but you probably haven't found worse case examples.
I think dope, LSD and Heroin didn't have the same long term damage as amphetamines and Cocain.

They like dichotomy, they want you to be able to kill a spider and chop some wood but then want to discuss literature and help with the housework. As such I've modelled myself as some kind of poncey fop/ alpha-male hybrid.

Reminds me of when I umpired the under 9s hung over. I had to run to the toilets at quarter time breaks.

I once played an under 18s game on 1 hour sleep, vomited before the game and at half time. Managed to get best on. I think that’s why I never made it, stupid no being drunk rules.

My best game of footy ever was after an all nighter, a call from the coach 5 mins before game time and a quick 'Dean Jones in Madras'.

The game was in slow motion & I was hitting targets left, right and centre. 3 votes thank you very much.

Similar thing with basketball too... golf & cricket while still blind on the other hand... horrible, horrible outcomes.

Seriously, a 5 year old knows not to make jokes about a woman who has no hair.

Apparently dad's are open slather though. I guess its payback for when i did it to mine.

Especially so since the woman in question has had a "did she get with Tupac?" since the 80's, so, why not pile on any people who hold other opinions by rubbishing her hair loss with no real context live in front of millions and multiple languages in effect.

Big oof.

Utter hilarity to see Will that pissed though. Like, well done if your aim was for him to smack a bitch. Just, choose a different bitch next time instead of yourself.

I came across this a little late.

I know it will contaminate the thread a little but surely George can scrub the black and white out of the Pixels later.

I lived in that town for a while as a young tacker, but i never knew that "Mr Welsh , the hardware shop owner " had ever been a VFL player.
I know the drive to melbourne when i was a kid, ( much much later than his career ) , consisted of at least 3 hours on a single lane road , often in a long stream of traffic behind some English made delivery van. I imagine it was much worse in the 50s. ( Trucks in my childhood weren't so slow, because Internationals made in Dandy were one of the cheaper options and they were well powered , though there were still some old slow Leylands and crap around ).
Of course when Peter got selected by the Hawks he was like a town hero. Older than me i never really knew him, but i remember his dad being happy as hell.
The local side is magpies colours and the pub there still has a big plywood 1976 wooden spoon that my dad made, and had painted by the artist/signwriter across the road.

Excellent story

Hi everyone, I’ve been missing in action for a long time . I needed a break after the passing of my mate Neill late last year . I’ve found it hard to get back into the footy but hopefully I will appear more often now the games are going .

Bronte and Tamarama are better than Bondi. Newtown is good for coffee and bars or used to be. Surry Hills used to be good but a bit wanky now. Marrickville is meant to be pretty good these days but haven't been there for years.

Was concerned you had some issue. Remember you had some health challenges last year.
Good to see you back, sorry to hear about your friend.
