I've done sleeper trains overseas but they get boring quickly. The fast trains are good but I still lose patience after a while even when you off set the airport time, it breaks it up. In Europe you can change countries very cheaply on budget airlines. Just don't take luggage with you.

I love the German trains where you can get to the airport by train with no fuss. Same in Singapore. In Australia they would miss the connection.

I flew from London to Bucharest via Easyjet complete with luggage, no problem.
It was an easy train from Kings Cross to Luton, even though i had to wait at the station and cram into a shuttle bus.
Heathrow from the city is easy if you throw money at the high speed suburban trains, but the Kings Cross to Luton probably easier than taking the tube to Heathrow.
Was a small and boring airport with no seats in the departure area.
The weirdest thing was noticing that most of the men had black beards and leather jackets, some had leather pants, while the women had the faux leopard skin leggins look and fake fur.
The flight itself was no problem. I don't know what people want from a flight.

Get on plane, sit in plane seat like any other. Watch movies on my laptop. Buy a drink if i get thirsty.
Ohhh but i get free drinks if i fly Lufthansa says some w***er. Sure ...you pay $300 extra for your ticket and your drink is "free"

I lost the USB stick with my movies on during the return trip to London. One of those russian mafia dudes probably stole it.

Great point...in terms of times and the needs in terms of housing....yeah...I just never liked them...little or no appeal to me ... but they have served well in their years for their purpose...the time will come when they will have to come down and i will be well dead and wont protest one bit....not even if I lived. ....One thing for sure whatever they build to replace that need I hope its better and that it is nothing but quality and cost is not the prime consideration ...the best that can be built for all those that require them.

Sure , when many people are struggling to buy houses , why not give better ones free to people who can't afford it? Cost no object LOL.
I doubt if either you or i are homeless, but for those of us who aren't rock stars, surely cost is always a consideration.

I understand what your saying I don't like the inference that the social housing is good enough if its in the right area...bugger that...it has to be just as thoughtful as your well designed, well planned home. Design that allows for the human spirit to flourish...they wont be the only ones that use it in the life time of the unit apartment or whatever bullshit name you give it!... That attitude is tantamount to saying they're getting better than they deserve shits me to the hilt. If your going to build social housing ,imo, it has to be the best that can possibly be made. Preferably in the best area. No social stigma no psycho/socio/economic trauma... Why not?

People get there petty noses out of joint because they say to themselves.."OMG why do they deserve that?"..."such a beautiful place in a beautiful area...just for the housing commission unit/apartment". People have the sentiment that they almost want those that need to be modest and in sufferance....if they get something given there are people that get indignant and say, 'well I'm not rich but i worked hard all my life...**** them why should those unfortunates get gifted this or that"....The measure of a society's level of being civilized and developed in the highest sense is the manner in which they treat those less fortunate than themselves. End of story. For me it is all that matters.

We, like a football team, drag each other up...embrace all and love each other. Just like the diggers we fight for the mate next to us we fight for each other.. ........................There you go! now shit on me as much as you wish!

Anyway I'm going to an amazing restaurant now to scoff wine, food and be decadent ... and if I feel the urge to splurge...Naaah I'm going to have a quiet drink and watch the footy! GO SAINTS...I love the difference we all possess!.

OK , lets assume that Elon Musk can afford an incredible mansion, fully automated everything. Lets say it costs a billion.
You are now saying that people below a certain threshold should get one of the billion dollar mansions to live in. "the best that can possibly be made". Not only does it cost the government ( ie TAX ) a lot, it makes me think , wow, i'm struggling to pay rent in my old dump, how do i get below the poverty line.
