Patently untrue, he was already here the issue was in the form after he landed in relation to the visa exemption was then handled, that the courts then granted to immigration to then deport and he then deported. He did not arrive illegally, he ran into paperwork illegalities after already arriving legally, and due then to that deportation was then unable to gain entry unless X-Z was then changed on his behalf which has now been overturned.

Claimed a medical exemption on the basis that he had previously had covid which was not a valid reason to claim the exemption. Hence his visa was cancelled.

Got his visa back on a "procedural fairness" matter (not whether he was illegally in the country or not), that gave him the chance to argue his case to the Minister.

Minister considered his claim and decided to deport him.

Djokovich appealed to the Federal Court - Federal Court agreed with the Minister.

Djokovich should have spent some money on a decent immigration agent who would have told him that all he needed was a doctors certificate.

Would have saved him all that angst.

I have no idea why he didn't just get a doctor to inject the vaccine into a potato and walk out with a certificate. Good on him for sticking to his guns, but the money he lost to prove a point would be immense.

I used to buy doctors certificates from a bloke in Footscray called Dr "How Long". He genuinely had a chart on the back of his door with his price list for the sick days you needed. Pity for Novak he got delisted.

As for visa validity, my interest is more personal than whether Novak was a d*** or not.

A few years ago, my partner and I were stopped from getting on a plane flight from Melb to Mexico that was transiting through Los Angeles.

We had been told we didn't need a visa for America because it was a direct transit through LA. What we weren't told was that we should have applied for an "Exemption from a Visa" even though we didn't need a visa because we were in the transit lounge.

Go figure!!

They could start by looking through CCTV footage from around the area, looks like Bondi, there would be thousands of cameras that could see what cars were driving around at that time of night. It would get you a good start. The gaming body would have some pretty serious organised crime links so probably likely to be something in that direction.

when the law is bad, I’ll cheer those that break it.

Being enshrined in law doesn’t mean I must now respect it. It was a stupid law that punished those for no good reason. It was all about optics, not safety. And that isn’t a good law.
