Sorry to hear that, our family has lost a few in the last couple of years. It's pretty tough to deal with, especially under that circumstance. You expect surgery to just work out with modern medicine.

I've started planting trees and plants up in the country for my family members and friends when they go. Being an Aussie idiot some are kind of smart arse choices. My mother in law got a plant called a Monstera ( I actually got on well with her but couldn't let the stereotype go, my cousin got this prickly aloe vera thing because he was prickly with a soft centre etc. It's actually a good way to keep them in you mind and the process of fitting the plant to the person is actually a pretty good way to think about the essence of the person and you have to tend them so think about them regularly. So far they've all survived which might have ruined it a bit otherwise. If you've got a bit of garden it might be a good way to process it all.
Funny you should say that. I have been at dad's this afternoon, raking up the winter leaves from his front and back garden. It took me two hours, and I got two bin bags full of them, but I enjoyed doing it for him. I didn't feel the cold once I got started, and it was a nice distraction. We can't have his garden falling into disrepair. Just a few days before he died, he was on step ladders, with shears, trimming a tree. I hope I can do that at 69.

Many years ago I went through four n twenty for work and I had a pie for lunch. The same with marathon I’ve been there as well and still eat the dim sims.

The best pies I’ve ever had came from the fountain inn in port Melbourne, decades ago they made old fashioned pies that were so good people started ordering over the phone and picking up takeaway from the bar.
I had a wonderful pie up in the Sunshine Coast this year.

My vote for the best pies in Victoria

It's real Christmas weather here in the UK just now, with a cold spell hanging over the country. Currently 11 a.m. here and -3. Driving conditions aren't good.

We are having a crack at a white Christmas here. There was snow predicted at a few of the ski resorts in Victoria. I was up in the bush last week and it was absolutely freezing at night. Usually it's bushfire season. I was there the week before and it was 30 degrees and too hot to do anything when you're not used to it.

Up in Mount Isa, they've been getting mid 40s weather.

I was in Germany in November a few years back.
We were in a restaurant in an old Prussian fortress up on a hill above the town.
Despite the fact it had started snowing fairly well, I went out for some fresh air while others were out smoking and were standing against a stone fence, looking down at the city below.
One of the German guys says
" This is the first snow for the year, we will have car accidents now, all the people forget how to drive in snow "
Sure enough, down below we see the flashing lights come on.

Nicholson isn't a great location, for ducking out to pick up one for lunch.
That long stretch between Sale and Bairnsdale is a killer.
I go to lakes a bit to go fishing so its on the way and there is a boat ramp at Nicholson as well

Shocking to hear of those two cops and civilian who lost their lives up in Wieambilla.

There's nothing lower than scumbags with a death wish taking out innocent people on their way out. Disgusts me.

It's sad for this to happen at any time of year, but to happen weeks before Christmas compounds the hurt for those families. No one should ever go to work and end up dead. Senseless.

What do you mean on the way out? Didn't the cops kill them? Haven't read that far into it was honestly sickened enough by the cops and that guy in his 50s being murdered so I stopped reading.

Read that both cops had both begun their careers in the last two years too. Sad.

Think he means it was basically suicide by cop. When you go to the extent of setting a trap and shooting officers, you probably know you're not getting out of that alive. Then again the guy sounds like he and his little family were completely delusional so who knows.

They've dug up large amount of stuff the bloke has written. Looks like a big conspiracy nut gone off the deep end, ex school principal turned antivax new-world-order sovereign-citizen type. Ridiculous shit and now people have lost their lives for nothing.

Didn't know it was a trap either, **** me. I thought they were called to the home because of a missing person's report from NSW. That was a lie?

Been too busy at work so read the heading and a few sentences

Usual thing unfortunately, people who think society owes them respect or something and when they don’t get it they go off the deep end.
This is definitely unusual and shouldn't be treated the same way

Sounds like he was way down a rabbit hole after suffering a mental health episode. Just tragic all-round and so hard to understand.

I don't know how they set it up, maybe they just saw the cops coming or had someone else let them know.
