Ya nah, I hate it. I'm a sitting by the pool guy and if I'm not immediately good at something I lose interest. Bali would cost about the same and I'd be cooking in the sun. Going form a cold Melbourne to an even colder place seems like idiocy. The wife loves skiing but none of her friends want to go so she screwed me over. I tried to cash it in and would have been $600 out of pocket not going. I've been actively trying to recruit one of her friends to go in my place but they all have lives.

I used to really enjoy it but I’m too banged up to even sight see. It’s something that has to be done properly, a nice apartment at falls up above the snow line is fantastic. A day trip to Mt Buller is cruel and unusual punishment Imo. I’m not a fan of the heat, come to think of it i whinge my way though all four seasons so Melbourne is the place for me.

I was pretty handy on the skis as a kid. Didnt do it for like 15 years, went back and tried snowboarding. Absolutely no beuno.

If you stay up on the mountain they charge you for keeping the car there, if you leave it down the mountain they charge you slightly less to get a bus up but no park fees. It's a scam. It's the most overpriced accomodation as well. You could pay for airfares and accomodation in Bali for 9 days for what it costs for passes, ski hire and accomodation for a few nights. It's ridiculous. And they have you trapped at their shitty overprices restaurants and bars. I think I might be a tight arse or I'm getting old, that sounds like an old man rant.

Similar but surfing.

Snowboarding is mostly front foot. Skating (which I can’t do) and surfing (which I was alright at) are back foot dominant.

It is PEAK Melbourne to complain about the weather except for 3-4 days each spring and autumn.

It’s extremely expensive but it‘s an incredible experience so I’d say it’s worth it even as a one off. Some of those apartments sleep 8 or more, so young people could head up with friends and keep the price down. It’s not as though it’s that much more expensive than say a week in a nice place on the beach at Noosa.

Hobart a fantastic place for a short holiday and all the snow you could want on top of mt wellington without the discomfort.

Heard a figure of $24T has been racked up on lockdowns and Ukraine “aid” alone by the US. Seems mildly ridiculous and completely unnecessary.

Don't know how 24 trillion plus 19 trillion equals 30 trillion but who am I to argue with someone who 'heard' it was true, hey champ? Was that from Ferrettarse of Veritas or whatever the purveyor of alternative truth is called?

Yeah, except that Noosa is warm and if you don't get murdered it's a nice part of the world. I've seen enough snow to last a lifetime. If I need to get cold I'll drive up to Baw Baw and spend the 30 minutes necessary to vibe with the elementalness of it all.

Noosa is just another place ruined by its own popularity, many decades past it’s best now imo. It does raise an interesting question, where is the best place to get some sun these days, domestic and international ?
