NOTE TO SELF

When collecting seeds from a super hot chilli plant, wear gloves ...because washing hands prior to taking a pi55 does not work very well
Goodness gracious, great balls of fire 😎

I’m a casual cricket fan at best and I thought it was ridiculous BUT reading the laws of the game and comments it seems like it’s actually techincally correct.

Probably should just use the eye test for most and only check the bump ball ones really. The nfl changed its catch rules a while back and it was complete chaos for a few years with what was and wasn’t a catch.

I'd give it out, but Starc is dingus and as you say technically correct from a certain point of view of a sliding motion. Much like AFL problem will be in consistency.

If that's not a catch players should just review every catch. No way you'd walk until everything is reviewed now. That's just stupid. They need an AFL style ...

I feel your pain. When I was younger playing footy I put deep heat on my balls for a laugh. I almost lost consciousness :moustache:

Everyone's done it by accident. Tears of pain.

A family friend was in India and went for an Ann Frank in the bathroom of his hotel room after doing a cooking class where he had cut chillies. Ended up in a hospital thinking he'd caught some tropical disease. Had half the hospital coming in to have a laugh at him.

I'm the special kind though, I did it on purpose. Real weird kind of operator back in those days.

Never had chillies on my balls, will note for next time.

Doesn’t surprise me you don’t seem real sharp

More surprised you have balls ⚽

Was it challenged by the Poms? Or requested by the umpire? Other than checking front foot (which is just genuinely umpire error) they probably shouldnt be checking anything unless its requested by the teams or umpire.
Duckett was walking off but Stokes might have challenged it , couldnt tell. it looked like the umpires on the field were happy with it being out .

This is the law they used apparently.
"
Law 33.3 of the MCC's Laws of Cricket states that "the act of making a catch shall start from the time when the ball first comes into contact with a fielder’s person and shall end when a fielder obtains complete control over both the ball and his/her own movement."

In this case, it was deemed by third umpire Marais Erasmus upon review of the catch that Starc was not in control of his own movement when the ball was brushed against the turf. "

But he took the catch and his hand was still gripping the ball as he put his hands down to stop sliding along the ground and get his balance .

Deep Heat that close to your nose will do that 😎

Absolute walk in the park with you two. Can set it all up, have it all laid out, and just give it an hour or so and you'll both walk straight through the door 😎

Walking you like a pair of dogs on a sunny summers day

I've not as I was the stupid person all "what's this do?" with the cig lighters in the car, pressed a finger and sweet jesus moment, only time I've had to check that part is because when someone said said get behind the ball in cricket I took it literally, and let's check for blood as the plastic bit broke. Thankfully no pain, but my life did flash before me for a second there.

Being that Italian part I already knew at those stages that hot things near that region ends badly, but well, stupe is going to stupe sometimes on other things.

I'd semi disagree just on last statement, wasn't a balance thing, was a natural reaction to arrest forward momentum, Marais obviously thought like you where it was a balance thing and Starc wasn't in control of, whereas I'm of opinion Starc was in control and this was more natural action of "I am sliding forward, I am going to arrest with my palm of hands" rather than allow a natural stop of momentum from air drag and friction.

Hence, Starc is dingus as that lead to drag of ball and these sort of discussions of which side of fence one sits on.
