Just visualised some hipster cafe where the cow teats poke through holes in the wall like a glory hole, they sanitise them and away go the customers.
Holey Cow Glory Hole Batman !

Don't knock kava!

It's an acquired taste. The Samoans that I used to know tried to introduce me to it but it tastes a lot like wood-pulp and dirt to me. Maybe Fijian kava is superior. ;)

Anyway Yerba Mate is like hay-bales that have been pissed on by a dog seeped in water. And it doesn't even get you high.

Taiwan is the home of weird cafes, might look there. They have a famous toilet cafe where you can eat and drink out of toilets while you sit on a toilet. Somehow it's popular.

Do they still buy betel nuts from girls in bikini's on the roadside?

People assume that Aldi is screwing someone because they can undercut the majors.
I think the majors pushed that line.

They are family owned, and the family have lead a fairly humble existence , especially the founding brothers.

While their publicly listed competitors are under constant pressure to give money back to their shareholders, the family probably don't care if they pocket 5 billion or 8 billion they won't spend this year.

I met a manager at a party once through friends. Didn't have a great culture and pressured staff to do more than they were obliged to do. All of them are campaigners, but at least Aldi is cheap.

Go to a local ethnic grocer and see the price difference in fruit and vegetables between them and the supermarkets. Not sure how they get away with such inflated prices.

There was this old bloke in Glenhuntly road Elwood for years who kept getting done stealing the dumped fruit out skips outside the Vic Market and selling it at his expensive "organic" fruit shop. People assumed that the mould and bruising was what made it organic.

Yeah i know, not as many good ones around now though.

When I lived in W.A. years ago my wife and i used to go to the Wanneroo markets most weekends, saved a fortune.
My current situation makes it really hard to buy a lot of fresh food at once without risking throwing a lot out.

I have Aldi and Coles on my way home from work so they tend to get a hammering.
They trick you, the bastards, if you buy something like Chilli's in Coles in the little plastic tubs, they cost around 3 times as much as if you buy them loose.
I don't mind how Coles have some more unusual variety now. You can buy stuff like White Radish (Daikon), some smaller varieties of Bok Choy that i prefer over the bigger stuff, they even started selling Durians.

Aldi don't have a good variety of fruit and veg.

I went to Dandenong market again the other day. Fantastic range of fruit and veg that you don't get in the inner city and super cheap. Springvale fruit shops are great too. Like being in Bangkok or Vietnam.

Driving out of there there was this young guy maybe about 25 in a commodore wagon with 3 kids and his partner stopped at the lights. Some campy guy on a little orange step through frame city bike rides past and this guy starts yelling what the **** are you riding **** sucker. The guy pedalled off and this bogan guy is laughing screaming out **** sucker at the guy louder with his family all laughing. My soft inner-city son was sitting with his mouth open.

Dandenong and Springvale are great. The stuff you buy there lasts for ages cause it's so fresh. There's a really good Afghan kebab shop near the market in Thomas st where they cook them over coals.

My favorite Indian restaurant is near the Dandy Station. It has its share of character, but it always seems pretty safe out at normal old persons hours , ( like before 10pm ).
The cops seem to be busy at the Station sometimes though.

Oh yeah one day my son was out for a driving lesson with me in the middle of the day once. He'd totally lost his bearings and didn't have a clue where we were.
A guy came running out of a driveway opposite Hungry Jacks, trips over his Wheely Bin and sprawls on the road in front of the traffic. Couple of guys who looked to have been chasing him picked him up off the road and they all went back into the driveway ( this is one street up from a bloody big police station ).
My son just looked at me and said...."We must be in Dandenong". When you're right you're right.

Clocking up driving hours on his learners was why I was there too.

Maybe for price, not quality. Hate ripoff shite.
Prefer growers markets, organic shops etc where possible.
We've started buying fruit and meat online. Comes in a big box once a month. Better than the shit you get at Colesworth. 80 bucks for a decent sized box for fruit. Not sure what the meat costs but that lasts a while.

During the day it actually seems fine. No worse than St Kilda or Footscray. Must do its best work after dark.
Even then after dark it isn't that bad. It's nowhere what it was like in the 90s
