It’s such an interesting perspective. I thought on it for all of 2 minutes the other day, where is the line we draw in terms of years past when looking at territory?
Thought to myself, I bet a heap of those ridiculing Putin are the same that screech we live on unceeded land here in Aus (all while free to leave). Interesting!

Its really hard for a democratic country to conquer the world.
Step 1. Invade.
Step 2. Hold election.
Step 3, they vote you out because you invaded , you arseh*le.
Step 4, Get confused.

And Israel making it pretty topical too.

Yes, it's very interesting.

Slightly different in my opinion, in that one is rationalizing invading another country and the other is rationalizing it's own history.

That's the thing, it's better to have a treaty and not have unceded land because until you come to an arrangement you have this legal time bomb sitting there. The idea that Australia was terra nullius is just obviously silly now. Most of the opposition to it is from the mineral extraction profiteers because it would mean that they have to negotiate for future and potentially past royalties and reparations. Could even end contracts that are already signed because permissions weren't given by the proper owners. A lot below true value and to overseas interests.

Saw Blink 182 last night, awesome show. They’ve still got it.

There’s not many bands out there that have been around for 25+ years and could play their latest single as the shows encore and get away with it, but they did it last night. Bought tickets 18 months ago - worth the wait.
Have they expanded from three chords to four yet? :p

This $95B aid bill is surely the last straw for Americans, the tinderbox has to go up at some point?
people will wonder why Trump will win the next election. Most people don’t want to spend that sort of money on other countries, when so many citizens in their own country are doing it very tough.

What does $95billion do for helping fix the homeless problem in the US? What does it do for improving the lives of inner city kids?

Countries need to focus on fixing their own problems before trying to solve everyone else’s

Step 3.1, if Bolshevick, murder the opposition and claim a moral victory.
Makes step 4, for any dissent, send them to a cold place to mine ore, or a train to GTFO and die.

Autocrats do it better after all... ...

Also, I'll note, Putin made no mention of that part of his countries history, how the Bolshevicks actually lost the election after the revolution to the Socialists after both ousted the Provisional gov to hold said elections in the first place. The literal first thing they did after "great job all" was march people out at gun point and either fire the trigger or send them on trains to Siberia for manual labour camps. So democracies can fail when not a true democracy in the first place.

Can imagine Putin in a NATO gig "Kosovo looked at me funny, so several of their citizens got thrown out of, err, fell out of windows and I found explosives. Everyone else hurt them plz, article whatev I've windows to repair and Georgia is a state not a country..." president of Rush-AH-.

Some say the countries looking to solve everyone else's problems are the ones creating them in the first place

I think military aid is like non-military aid. A significant portion of it, finds its way back into the coffers of the country giving it.

Probably the next best thing for the industrial complex other than going to war itself.

Again, it’s just another lever for the rich to get richer. Why would they stop it?

Stop or slow right down the immigration, fix the probs for your own people, build the country up and help the poor first

We should follow suit

Might slow down the murder and crime
Grandmas getting killed and people seriously assaulted for no reason

Most Western Economies are completely dependent on immigration.

Why would who stop it?
Of course I agree with what you’re saying 100%, I’m talking about the general public tinderbox. Imagine being homeless, Hawaiian, or from blue cities and watching hundreds of billions leave your country straight to the pockets of an actor midget or the crack addled son of the President ffs.

Oh dear.

Do you really worry that the money is being siphoned into the Clinton, Obama and Biden accounts? If they’re taking a cut it’s pocket change.

Trump is probably the most successful President at making sure he gets his fair share with his $2 billion dollar grift from the Saudis. And good luck to him. If not him, someone else would have got it, and Trumps wealth is probably at the lesser end of the destructive scale.

There’s another layer behind the political class that is at the heart of everything that is wrong with American politics.

Right now American voters just get to decide whose turn it is to drink from the fire hose.

And unfortunately that political setup is starting to permeate into Australian politics.

Then I welcome you to the great herd. We affectionately call ourselves ‘The Distracted’.

Changing politicians is not the change that young people are clamouring for. Changing politicians just changes the direction that the money flows, and which politicians are taking their cut. The money still avoids the poor and vulnerable, and less and less is tipping into the pockets of the middle class.

Oh exactly. I don’t care who they are, just that it is happening right in our faces. Disgusting.
The people are mostly powerless to do anything these days (as well as on the majority, cowardly), that is the issue.

That’s a little disingenuous we all care which politicians are in power, probably preferring to have representatives whose front of house policies are more closely aligned with our personal values.

But even there we all tend to fall for the false advertising.

Hahaha

We're all too busy working 10 hour days, and trying to find spare time to buy new underwear and have a haircut.
