I wouldn't say their own terms, the USA is more fracturing where there is a growing sentiment that the White House is disconnected from its constituents and current pres and friends is encountering some legal push backs on things randomly. Foreign policy is just reflecting this by one day "they be foolish" to next day "yeah I agree with some components" flip flopping that markets aren't moving but some countries are then going "that's it from me dawg" and distancing.

Anyway, being a mod for a second; I just want to say a reminder for people to be respectful when a divergence of opinions occur, not that anyone is overstepping at present, more a these things have a tendency to escalate hard and fast. Today i witnessed workers replacing 2 large concrete patches in the footpath.
They needed a traffic control unit and multiple people.
They closed of a lane of a dual carriage way so that the ( very minimal ) pedestrians could walk on the road.
They were there on my way to work this morning , then still there at lunch time. They weren't doing much that i could see, i suspect watching the concrete to make sure it was drying properly.

Anyways with those sort of inspiring teams , i'm sure we could construct a wonder city.


I recon a stereotype greek migrant with a hanky on his head , and his mate could have done the work in 4 hours with a hand mixer, without blocking the road.

The US is claiming Gaza, Ukraine's mineral fields, Greenland and Canada. Not sure they can criticise them on Taiwan and the SCS. I don't think vicinity has anything to do with it anyway. Guam is also closer to China.

Not a fan boy or Chinese. Just a person who takes an interest in geopolitics. A lot of what we think we know is based on western propaganda. I'd say the only thing that Trump has done well is expose the way the US has used all kinds of government organisations to manipulate foreign government and broken the wester alliances up. So car jackings, stabbings and violent home invasions were a nightly event in Melbourne 5 or 10 years ago? Our population was over 5 million then! This has nothing to do with population size and everything to do with the ideology of the hard left that has been imposed on Victoria for the better part of the past 25 years. It has its origins in the completely unnecessary state level Charter of Human Rights introduced by showboating AG Rob Hulls. The soft on crime mindset that everyone should be rehabilitated and suffer no punitive penalty for their crimes, has now descended into a revolving door farce with zero consequences for recalcitrant young offenders, re-offending, whilst on bail, dozens and dozens of times.

Odds on those responsible last night were already out on bail !!!

There are cases of corruption and they pretty much do what developers want.

There are cases where the council don't meet the government agenda.
One example is granny flats.
Family want their elderly relative living in the back yard.
Government want them there too, it costs less than subsidising them in a care facility.
Granny probably wants it too.

Council say.....Nahhh, because they like to say Nahhhh, can i build a gazebo , Naahhhhh, how about a .....Nahhhhhh.
Seriously they are pretty stupid , in Casey they banned flying kites in public places, it started off with kids getting model airplane fuel on a cricket pitch and somehow ended up with kites.
Meanwhile the mayor collected a stash of cash and shot off overseas.

Anyway the government brought out a standing rule where the council have to allow granny flats, but they are still really restrictive about where you can place them.

It confounds me that places like Warragul, which is a bloody commute and a half through paddocks , from the city , fetches really high land prices. It can only be because the council and developers collude to keep the prices high.
