The stuff they show at Hamer hall and the MRC isn't arty. Next time you come over I'll take you out to see some real arthouse stuff.

Let's organise a Saints Artistic Round Carousel Arrangement for Saints Members aka Sarcasm.

You can have first dibs of what event we all need to congregate at and show up with coat tails, gloves, a top hat, permed beards and a monocle so we can get our true artistic flair out and proud.

i just said to Mow earlier i was thinking of coming over for a game later this year but the way we are playing they can get farked and ill save the fuel money

Next year come over and we'll have some beers.

Is it right to say that Melbourne, like St Kilda, don't have a specialist super-tall full-forward today?

I remember mainly fish and chip shops but also cafes with hot boxes use to sell these spring rolls. They were about the size of a chiko roll and were filled with sprouts and the inside was fairly mushy and juicy. Haven’t seen one for a while, can you still get them?

My local does. Sometimes i see them in lunchtime cafe's in industrial areas.

I went off Chicko's , because my school canteen used to have them, used to heat them in the pie warmer, and if they weren't in there long enough they were just totally disgusting, it happened too many times.

The guy who invented dim sims , mainly made them for steaming in Chinese restaurants.
His son was meant to drop some off some place with his bike, but went fishing instead. On the way home he stopped at a mate's who's family had a fish and chip shop.
He showed him the dim sims, and as you do, they threw a few in the deep fry.
The rest is history.

Both DimSim's (first) and ChickoRolls were kind of inspired by spring-rolls, but the larger spring rolls in fish and chip shops probably came out in competition to Chicko Rolls.

It was my grandfather Leo and his two brothers Frank and Gerry who actually invented the chiko roll in Bendigo back in the day,

Still very popular sold in both major supermarkets, at the Royal Melbourne show, Luna park, loads of fish and fish shops, servos etc.

The story of the dim sim as we know it is well known.

I’m not that sure about the big spring rolls but I can tell you for a fact that they have been around at the markets for at least 50 years. The exact same style and flavour was my favourite snack at pennant swimming on a Friday night at the old Olympic pool and that also goes back over 50 years. I had one from the south Melbourne market a couple of weeks ago and they haven’t changed at all.

It was probably from the same batch that you bought back at Pennant swimming on a Friday! :roflv1:

My kids went to school with the kids of the people who own the south Melbourne markets stall. I’ve also been through marathon foods back in the day in a professional capacity. Their dim sims are fine and they also make a good spring roll very similar to the ones I like. It just nether tastes exactly the same out of an oven or airfryer as it does straight out of the deep fryer.

Yeah the modern day small spring rolls are way too healthy.
My bil actually cooks his chiko rolls in duck fat 🤣🤣🤣
But I can tell you the best ones are to dip the ends in batter before deep frying and allow the ends to pop off into the batter. Yummmbo

So you are an heir to the Chicko roll dynasty ?

You need to reboot it , get some new Chicko Chicks happening.

I got sucked in to going over to Kepppel last weekend to see all these tribute bands.
Status quo Elton John Queen abba fmd abba especially was a killer and I was entrapped on an island.
$150 a ticket plus ferry fee. $10 a can and only had great northern which is below bong water.
Could only get two cans per person. Painful.
I didn’t take a hat and had to buy some poxy resort bucket hat for $40.
Stuck there for ten ****ing hours.
Anyhoo live and learn.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing normies to drink Great Northern.

Im the furthest thing from a beer snob, but that stuff is genuine dog saliva
I really cannot understand for the life of me how it has become so popular.

Jesus , i wouldn't think being a Status Quo tribute band would be very hard.
Learn guitar for a couple of weeks ( 12 bar ), all yell the words at the same time.
