I saw one still on the road a while back and so looked them up. They must be collectable according to the ads. There were still hatchbacks around even. I don't think I've noticed one for years.

They are a Fiat 127 hatch, with a 4wd drivetrain stuck into it by the best Russian Automotive engineers hotrodders.
I'm pretty sure my cousin had all sorts of issues once it got a bit older.

Peter Brock put his name on a "hot" version of the Lada Samara hatch. Peter Brock would do anything if you paid.

My mate got his when they were already pretty old and it was pretty bulletproof. He's a bit of 4WD nut so could do the work himself though. He'd take it out to Lancelin in summer and you'd think it would boil like a kettle but even with it's radiator that looked like it was designed to save water it held up.

Whatever you say about them, they don't break down.
You don't buy a $700K civilian version of a german military vehicle and have it break down.

Cause of, not casualty.

Though you did just confirm another point that you do spend that amount of German goods based from military spec if you want to cause damage.

They are a ridiculous thing.

But i do appreciate some of the engineering in it.
The axles use gears so they are well above the centerline of the ( already large ) wheels, so they have enormous ground clearance.
The drive train is also unusual.

I don't think i'd buy one if i was a billionaire.

WTF are Australian government departments doing with them, have they got too much money?

Started watching Storm about 6 years ago and really enjoy watching league now . But struggle with union

I don't often watch it but quite enjoy it when I do. Storm are the model of a pre sporting organisation to copy. Just get nearly everything right.

It’s a good night out as well, music and fireworks very well run. I used to take my son and we loved it, I was disapointed when they ditched I won’t back down as there run out song.

I’ve always watched a bit but I got right into it when I started travelling to Canberra for work about mid 80’s. I guess the halcyon days of the raiders and wallabies didn’t hurt either.

I grew up in Sydney

I've been in Melbourne 16 years after a 5 year stint in Brisbane.

Lived and breathed League. Grew up in a league mad household. Played it. Was pretty good til I did a knee.

Don't even watch origin now. My love for AFL went way past league pretty quickly. Just have no interest in it now.

Yeah agree Gringo.
When they were a fledging club I would see them on my delivery runs hitting the gym at 4am.
Culture is a bit of a corporate bullshit tag but the desire to be the best at the Storm is ingrained.

Same here, grew up in Sydney, moved to Melbourne in 1988.
Still a Bulldogs fan but like the Storm about the same. Been to one rl match in my time in Melbourne, SOO when they wanted to fill the members at the G.
Prefer AFL, RL and Union (internationals) on about a par but a few way behind footy.

Yeah I had mates that did try outs at the Storm back in the 90's, what stuck out like dogs balls to me was that complete and utter buy in and there was just this air that yep, they would do great things as they are that in the zone to do those things.

Then I'd crash back to earth and see about 3/4 of my list passed out or close to at a bar and yep, no wonder Ballarat has that pedigree...
