Me and some mates were diving out near Cliffy Island ( near Wilsons Promontory ) one year.
There were some big fish there, and we speared one each, though they thrashed around and bled quite a lot , so in the remote location was kind of giving off shark vibes. Doubly so after we surfaced and found that fisherman had parked near us and were throwing burley into the water.

Showed some guys in the pub at Port Welshpool, none of them knew what they were.

Turned out they were Red Morwong. None of the locals knew them, because you won't catch them on a hook.
They were pretty good to eat.
You get some big kingfish and plenty of crays down around the prom along with loads of flathead and flounder. Morwong aren‘t caught that often and the dusky more common variety are crappy eating, they are pretty dumb and it’s considered poor form to spear them but red Morwong are fair game. The prom is really sharky, these days if I get a dive at all it’s floating around in six feet of water in the bay. You’d be amazed how many fish are on the reefs from Elwood to Beaumaris in fact the whole bay is pretty productive I just stick to my local area.

Cliffy is pretty close to a deep drop i think.
It was sort of known for sharks, so i could have killed those dumb bastards throwing burly in the water.
There are also a lot of Barracuda between the islands.

In those days the Fisheries people used to hide on the cliffs around Inverloch with their binoculars and book anyone who might have taken 3 Abalone instead of 2. The rocks around Cliffy were all shiny and bare, where the poachers had gone in and stripped them completely. ( I stopped taking Abalone, if there is a way i making them good eating it was too hard, though i was thinking along the lines of chowder ).

Off the rocks at Calimna ( near Lakes Entrance ) was good for Ludric .
There is a rocky groin either side of the chanel.
The one on the road side is usually packed with fishermen, but if you have a boat you cross to the far side.
Spent hours one day snorkelling with a spears.
No scuba allowed you'd duck down and hold your breath until you saw a school swim past , then try to get one.
We got a pretty big bag.
Back at the other side , fishermen trying to catch them with a bit of weed on the hook weren't catching anything.

so long story short ... business makes a slogan to promote "buy everything" in one shop... triggered nuff nuffs assume its a decision to be PC/woke/inclusive so they lose their minds so business changes it ....

what a world we live in where the facts are irrelevant
The RWNJ cooker set love to censorship anything and are so easily triggered the pathetic little snowflakes.

Tried that method.
I decided it wasn't worth eating when i got it free.
Definitely not worth what people pay for it.

Swap it for Crayfish at market rate would be a good deal.

Scallops used to be good, until i got my bag limit off Rye. By the time i cleaned them all and ate them all i was a bit over them.

Haha yeah I worked with a guy who’s brother in law had an oyster farm in NSW. We used to get sacks shipped down at Xmas, but I got a bit tired of cleaning and opening so many. It’s about 100 scallops or used to be, I’ve bagged out a couple of times but been careful to share them with family and friends.
